343 kicks off Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta documentary

343 Industries has rolled out the first in a new behind-the-scenes series detailing their work on the multiplayer beta of Halo 5: Guardians. The beta is scheduled to launch this month for owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and the new six-part series, The Sprint – Making Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta, will follow the developers and development stages as the beta takes shape. The first episode, titled Balance, premiers today at 6 p.m. (CST) on the Halo Channel, Windows 8.1, and Xbox One. A new episode will air each day until the beta launches on December 29. Forza Horizon 2 – Storm Island now live, adds 5 rides, 90 events, more

The Storm Island digital expansion pack has hit Live for the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2. The $20 add-on includes a new area, Storm Island, which is home to 90 new events, five new event types, fog, and tropical storms. Other new content includes a Car Meet, Rivals events, Bucket List challenges, speed traps, speed zone leaderboards, upgrades (off-road suspension, tire, and transmission), and rally-inspired body kits for specific cars. For multiplayer-specific additions, there are 20 unique race routes, six Gauntlet events, three Showdown events, five online championship event types, and four Playground arenas. A new download pack has gone live for Forza Horizon 2. The NAPA Chassis Car Pack adds five new rides: the Audi RS6, Buick GSX, McLaren 650S Coupe, Monte Carlo SS, and the Supercharged Land Rover. A free car is also available for all players, the 2002 Lotus Esprit V8. Each ride in the $5 drop as well as the Lotus are detailed below.

Sunset Overdrive weapon DLC released, voting and MP perks detailed

Insomniac Games has announced several new items for Sunset Overdrive, including new weapons, events, and item boosts. The first weapon pack launched today for $4.99, which includes the Plague Bomb, which causes vomiting to the point of exploding; the Rager, for creating a cloud that confuses and enrages enemies to the point where they attack one another; Shield Buddy, a bomb-deploying shield; and the Multi-Lock Rocket Launcher for targeting up to eight enemies at once. Xbox One celebrates first year with 24 hours of free Sunset Overdrive

Microsoft will be celebrating the Xbox One’s one-year anniversary with a 24-hour free-play session of Sunset Overdrive. Beginning tomorrow, Xbox One owners who have a membership to Xbox Live Gold will be able to play Sunset Overdrive for free until 11:01 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, 12:01 a.m. (EST). On November 22, Insomniac will be fielding their own multiplayer team to go against all takers on Monday at noon (CST) as well as show off some new weapons on the official Xbox Twitch channel. Microsoft will also be giving away gifts, including background images and free rentals, as well as prizes; the full list of all the goodies can be found here.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is now available for Xbox One. The launch initially kicked off with over 4,000 midnight release events and additional livestreamed festivities, but those who decided to stay in can now grab a copy. The set includes Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition, an updated Halo 2 with cutscenes by Blur Studios, Halo 3, Halo 4, access to the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta, and the live-action series Halo: Nightfall from Ridley Scott. So pretty much everything but ODST and Wars. Pictures from the livestreamed launch event HaloFest were also released, and those who missed it can watch it on demand through the official site.
