Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance slices and dices its way into stores

After a flurry of videos and screenshots, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has hit store shelves. The Kojima Productions and Platinum Games co-production features the former’s flair for storytelling and the latter’s love of crazy action in a new tale featuring everyone’s favorite white-haired ninja, Raiden. Well, maybe “favorite” is a strong word. More like the “Where did Solid Snake go? Who is this guy?!” game-usurping white-haired ninja. But this is the new-and-improved Raiden, the one from Metal Gear Solid 4, kitted out with cyborg limbs and a massive sword. It’s that same sword that will be used to dismember innumerable cyborgs and take down the notorious PMC Desperado Enforcement.

Metal Gear Rising shows off skills, bosses in new trailers

Two more Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance videos have been released, Depserado Elite and Skill Upgrades. The first covers a range of boss fights, with Raiden squaring off against a crew of strange soldiers representing Desperado Enterprises’ finest. The second, below, is a little over a minute long and looks at the powers Raiden will unlock throughout the game.

Metal Gear Rising trailers released, PS3 VR Missions DLC revealed

Two more videos have been released for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Unmanned Gears and Unique Weapons. Unmanned Gears is available above, but to check out all of the recent videos, head over to the official Youtube channel. In addition, Konami also announced PS3-exclusive DLC, VR Missions. The set of 30 new missions will be based around the original Metal Gear Solid’s VR Missions and feature new stages that mix combat and stealth training. The Dwarf Gekko will also be playable.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance shows off blades, cyborgs in trailers

Konami has released two new trailers for the upcoming Metal Gear spinoff, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The videos, High-Frequency Blades and Cyborg Troops, are a little over a minute each and feature some of the moves capable with the new combat system and a sample of the cyborg soldiers that will be on the receiving end of those thrusts and slashes.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo launching next week

Konami has announced that they will be releasing the playable demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance that was included with the Zone of the Enders HD Collection on Live and PSN on January 22. The demo allows players to experience a portion of the first chapter, which will introduce them to a new half-cyborg Raiden and his band of military contractors. The action-heavy title will offer Metal Gear-style storytelling with PlatinumGames-style action, which, going by the demo, could make for a rowdily wordy good time.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Limited Edition announced

Following their announcement of a Limited Edition version of Zone of the Enders HD Collection, Konami has revealed that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be receiving its own Limited Edition release. The premium version of the Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames’ co-developed entry will be available for 360 and PS3 and include the game, soundtrack, two-sided Steelbook, and oddly enough, a katana blade plasma lamp.

Konami held their pre-E3 show last night and kicked the expo off with a number of announcements. Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and the Karoke series were all accounted for, as well as news that a new studio has launched to focus on mobile gaming and all things social.
