A new Hideo Kojima-created launch trailer has gone live for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The video runs a little over five minutes and features cutescene clips as well as gameplay footage, along with sections from earlier titles, going back to the first Metal Gear Solid. A few additional details were also released about the Companion App. The PS4 and Xbox One download will connect with the game to act as a second screen to display a separate map as well as allow access to any map at any time, and it will play all collected records and music. The app will be available on September 1.

After some recent speculation, Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be available on September 1 for console and September 15 for PC. It was also announced that the game will be available as a $59.99 Day 1 Edition or, for PS4 and Xbox One, a $99.99 Collector’s Edition. The Day 1 Edition will come with downloadable items, including a special cardboard box and a silver personal ballistic shield, while the Collector’s Edition will come packed with access to more DLC as well as a collectible steelbook, a behind-the-scenes Blu-ray, and half-scale replica of Snake’s bionic arm. Konami has debuted gameplay from Metal Gear Online, the multiplayer component from the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The four-minute-long trailer was revealed at The Game Awards 2014. According to the announcement accompanying the video, Online will be available for free and transition into elements of the single-player mode. The game will feature graphical and mechanical updates in line with The Phantom Pain’s additions, a class-based system, and appearances by prominent characters, including Ocelot and Venom Snake.

Konami announced that they will be launching Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for PC via Steam on December 18. This version of the Phantom Pain prequel will be 4K compatible and feature several graphical upgrades, including an increase in the number of on-screen models, shadow resolution, and simultaneous light sources. As Big Boss, players must break into Camp Omega prison on a rescue mission. The game world is now an open environment, allowing for greater freedom of movement and engagement, and features a day-and-night cycle and weather effects.

Update! The livestream of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s E3 theater demo from Kojima Productions’ Twitch Channel that was previously here has been replaced with a Youtube video. Those who missed the streaming event can now check it out, and for those who tuned in, see it again in 720p. The demo playthrough runs at just over half an hour long.

A new patch has been announced for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Scheduled to launch on May 1, the update will add both formerly platform-exclusive missions Déjà vu and Jamais Vu to all versions. Déjà vu, the once-PlayStation-platform exclusive, is based on the original Metal Gear Solid and features a low-polygon Snake, while Jamais Vu has Raiden square off against Snatchers from the classic adventure title.

Konami has released the prequel to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes. Available in stores and online for 360, PS3, PS4, and Xbox One, Ground Zeroes follows Big Boss as he tackles a rescue mission inside of a Cuban prison camp. The 1975 op sees him sneaking into Camp Omega, which will allow players to attempt the rescue through pure stealth, action, or a combination of the two. The assignment also allows players to exerpience many of the new features, including a day-and-night cycle, dynamic weather, and second-screen functionality with the iDroid App for Android, iOS, and Xbox SmartGlass devices. Additional side missions also extend the gameplay beyond the core mission.

Konami has revealed more info about Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain prequel Ground Zeroes. An early-bird bonus will be available for both games, with buyers of the first-run physical or launch-period online copies of Ground Zeroes receiving DLC for Phantom Pain. The pack will add more personnel for Mother Base. The two games will be further linked by the ability to bring over character skins as well as freed prisoners of war and rescued VIPs from Ground Zeroes to Phantom Pain, the latter also serving as staff in Mother Base. It was also announced that the PS4 and Xbox One will also be receiving physical and digital copies of Ground Zeroes for $29.99.

This version includes all three of the DLC missions that were released for 360 and PS3 (Blade Wolf, Jetstream, and VR Missions) as well as several body upgrades for Raiden, including Commando Armor, Cyborg Ninja, White Armor, and his outfit from MGS4.

The PC version of Konami and PlatinumGames’ Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is now available for pre-order on Steam. Beginning at noon (central), players who put down their cash will receive 33 percent off; players who pre-order after the first 24 hours will still get a discount, but at a slightly lower 20 percent. The PC version includes all three DLC missions released for consoles—Blade Wolf, Jetstream, and VR Missions—as well as several body upgrades for Raiden, including the White Armor, Commando Armor, and his MGS4 outfit.
