The first update has gone live for The Elder Scrolls Online. Additions include a veteran rank increase to 12, a Death Recap window that provides info about what occurred at the time of the player’s death, a bump of double experience for killing player characters, and the biggest, the first Adventure Zone, Craglorn. Divinity: Original Sin – Early Access adds Mac support, CE detailed

Larian has revealed a limited Collector’s Edition for their upcoming role-playing game Divinity: Original Sin. The studio also announced that an Early Access update has added support for Macs. The Collector’s Edition is limited to 1,500 sets and includes two copies of Original Sin for co-op play, digital copies of its predecessors Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity, recipe cards, a cloth map of Rivellon, and more, detailed below. The Early Access update, also detailed below, adds a Mac version with Retina support, an improved Laptop Optimized mode, cross-system support for co-op play across Mac and Windows, Steam Cloud support, 10 extra talents, new skills and the ability to unlearn unlocked skills.

PS4, Xbox One versions of The Elder Scrolls Online delayed

Bethesda has released an update on the progress of the console versions of The Elder Scrolls Online. The statement, posted below, notes that there have been unforeseen challenges in developing the PS4 and Xbox One versions due to how different they are from the already available Mac and Windows PC versions as well as each other, and that overcoming these problems will require an additional six months. The studio is also offering owners of the Mac and Windows versions the chance to transfer their characters over to their preferred console version upon release and to buy a full digital version of the PS4 or Xbox One version, along with an additional 30 days of play time, for $20.

Trilobyte turns to film, returns to crowdfunding for The 7th Guest 3

Trilobyte Games, one of the earlier pioneers of multimedia adventure gaming, has announced that they have signed an agreement with Angel Valley Media to license film and TV treatments of The 7th Guest. The studio has also launched a crowdfunding campaign on CrowdtiltOpen, which will divide funding and development goals into stages, to finance the third entry in The 7th Guest series, The Collector. The first stage, which will fund a playable beta for iOS, Linux, Mac, and Windows PC, has currently received over a third of the necessary pledges.

Chaos: Reborn Kickstarter campaign passes $100K at halfway mark

As Julian Gollop’s Kickstarter campaign for Chaos: Reborn, a reboot of his 1985 turn-based strategy game Chaos, passes the halfway mark, it’s been announced that over $100,000 has been raised so far. As designer of Laser Squad and co-designer of X-Com, Gollop is looking to return to the genre after a stint on the Assassin’s Creed series with a now-fantasy-themed version of his turn-based hit. The Angel of Death nears with launch of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls

Evil forces are once again in need of smiting today with the launch of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. The expansion adds the new Crusader hero, who joins the Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, and Wizard from the original release, a new increased level cap (70), randomized Bounty challenges, the Mystic artisan for more loot customization, randomized dungeons within the Nephalem Rifts, and a new Adventure Mode for free exploration. Act V will have players facing off against Malthael, the Angel of Death. In anticipation of Reader of Souls, a new update went live for the base game, which revamped the loot system, increased the number of options for forming Clans and Communities, and expanded the Paragon progression system.

Indie-centric Phoenix Online Publishing launches, line-up detailed

Phoenix Online Studios has announced that they have launched a new indie publishing label, Phoenix Online Publishing. The new studio will release titles both online and in stores from a variety of genres, including role-playing, strategy, and adventure, that feature “rich storytelling and atmosphere.” The initial roster is comprised on four titles: Jane Jensen’s latest adventure, Moebius: Empire Rising; Infamous Quest’s Kickstarter-backed role-playing game Quest for Infamy; The Game Kitchen’s horror-themed adventure title The Last Door: Collector’s Edition; and the hidden-object puzzler Lost Civilization. Kingdom Come: Deliverance being livestreamed, heading to console

Action-adventure RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been announced for PS4 and Xbox One. Developer Warhorse Studios has revealed that Microsoft and Sony have both approved the title for their respective systems, and to celebrate, the developers are currently livestreaming a gameplay session. The rewards have also been updated accordingly, with tiers featuring a digital copy being open to either platform, depending on backer preference, and boxed rewards now including console copies (with goodies). Beta access remains for Linux, Mac, and Windows only, but the release notes that console betas might be added later. The game’s current Kickstarter campaign has exceeded its original goal several times over.
