Spiderweb Software’s latest role-playing game has hit the download circuit. Avadon 2: The Corruption is now available for Mac and Windows PC on GOG.com, Steam, and the official website. Picking up where The Black Fortress left off, players must not only fight off invading foes after the fall of the fortress but also stave off an impending civil war in Avadon. In addition to new quests, weapons, and artifacts, The Corruption also adds a new class, the Tinkermage.

Clockwork Empires calls players to manage a colony, battle Cthulhu

Dungeons of Dredmor developer Gaslamp Games has announced their next title, Clockwork Empires. Set for a spring 2014 release, the Linux, Mac, and Windows PC colony builder/management sim follows a Colonial Grade civil servant of the Empire sent to spread its reach and fortune in a new world. Players will have access to steam-powered machines, settlers with their own skills and ambitions, and the ability to go online and share powerful tech with other Imperial pioneers. Beware: progress too far and “Unthinkable Horrors” will arise to attack the colony (see: Cthulhu).

The arena awaits! Action RPG Forced now available on Steam

Indie developer BetaDwarf’s latest action RPG Forced has hit Steam for Mac, Linux, and Windows PC. In an arena with up to four players or solo in a single-player campaign, players will be able to choose one of four distinct gladiators to battle waves of enemies and navigate trap- and puzzle-filled arenas. Players can also mark their targets, allowing them to later consume the marks to activate skills or deal more damage.

Update 1.029 launches for Drox Operative

Work continues on Soldak’s excellent space-based action-RPG Drox Operative, and now players can download the latest update: patch 1.029. Recent updates have continued to refine the base system as well as add support for controllers, and the latest patch follows suit. Some of the tweaks include trap damage increased by 50%, new warnings for mandatory quests, and Trade Pacts visible when race icons are highlighted. The final downloadable pack for Metro: Last Light, Chronicles Pack, has launched today for 360, PC, and PS3. The single-player pack includes three new missions that run parallel to Last Light’s story and feature characters that Artyom encountered along the way. Players will be able to see how Polis sniper Anna attempted to save Artyom from Reich forces, how Pavel broke free from the Bandit Lair under Venice, and how Khan and Ulman made it through the tunnels of Polyanka.

Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition to set forth this November

Overhaul Games is following up last year’s Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition with an updated re-release of its sequel, Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition. Scheduled to launch on November 15 for Mac OS X and Windows PC, the new version will feature the original game (Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn), the official expansion (Throne of Bhaal), four new characters, The Black Pits 2: Gladiators of Thay challenge arena, and updated graphics with remastered art and support for higher resolutions. The game can be pre-loaded now through the Beamdog client or shortly via a standalone installer.

Kalypso forms digital publisher Kobalt Games, reveals Blood Knights

Developer and publisher Kalypso Media has created a new digital-centric label, Kobalt Games. According to the announcement, “Kobalt Games will publish high-quality titles for PC, XBLA, PSN, Mac and Linux at a mid-price level, with a maximum price of £24.99, €29.99, $29.99, primarily via digital distribution channels.” Kobalt announced that its first game will be Blood Knights, a hack-n-slash action-RPG from Venetica and Jack Keane developer Deck 13 Interactive. Set in the Middle Ages, players will control two adventurers, a Templar vampire hunter and the vampire he is bound to, who must battle against armies of creatures to find the spell that will break their bond.

Metro: Last Light – The Developer Pack to launch September 17

Deep Silver has announced that Metro: Last Light’s third DLC drop, Developer Pack, will be available on September 17 for 360, PC, and PS3. The pack will include a new solo mission, The Spider-Nest, which will require that players clear a catacomb of spiders using the lighter, torches, and the new Flamethrower. In addition, there will also be three new areas to utilize: a Shooting Range, where players can compete in marksman challenges with all gun and attachment combinations; an AI Arena, in which customizable squads of human soldiers and mutants face off in challenges; and a Metro Museum, where players can learn more about the characters and their mutant enemies.

Soldak launches update 1.024 for Drox Operative

As with previous updates, 1.024 adds a variety of tweaks, such as the Shadow’s spy trait now affecting espionage and sabotage, Drox Guild quests now rewarding more credits and XP, and ancient quests popping up more frequently.
