GOG.com kicks off 2015 DRM-Free Summer Sale

GOG.com is jumping the gun on summer by launching their 2015 DRM-Free Summer Sale today. The event will include free games, daily bundles, giveaways, and themed discounts. This year, the service will be offering rewards for games purchased, and buyers have the chance to score three free games. Everyone who spends at least $1 will receive a free copy of SimCity 2000, while $20 nets a free copy of Stalker: Clear Sky and $50 a free copy of Xenonauts. The offer runs for the duration of the sale, which is set to end on June 21. New deals will appear every 12 hours, which will add up to over 700 games. Today’s highlighted deals are bundle discounts for LucasArts adventure titles, D&D enhanced editions, Heroes of Might and Magic series, and the first two Stalker releases.

Mighty No. 9 Collector’s Edition detailed, new trailer, screens released

Deep Silver has announced that they are expanding their Mighty No. 9 offerings with a Collector’s Edition. The $59.99 set will come with a Launch Edition of the game, special packaging with a foil signature from Keji Inafune, and an individually numbered statue of Beck that stands 6.5 inches tall and sports 14 points of articulation along with three interchangeable faceplates. Both the Limited and Collector’s editions will come with Retro Hero DLC, which will revert the graphics to an older style and add a one-hit difficulty mode. It was also announced that the game will also support cross-buy across all physical and digital versions of PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. And to top off the reveals, a new 60fps trailer, Beat Them at Their Own Game, has also been posted.

Tropico 5 to go cloak-and-dagger route with Espionage DLC

Tropico 5 will be spending some time in the shadows in the newly announced expansion Espionage. Scheduled to launch on May 28 for PC, and later this year for PS4 and Xbox 360, the expansion will add a new six-mission campaign, The Maltese Toucan, which will pit the player against the machinations of foreign agents who are after the regime’s secrets. The pack will also include nine spy- and military-themed buildings, such as security checkpoints, a spy academy, dungeons, and the Ministry of Information; four avatar costumes; six avatar accessories; four island maps; four music tracks; sandbox tasks; and spying mechanics, which will also be available in all multiplayer modes and current Sandbox maps.

Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited video highlights activities

Bethesda has released the second video in their This is The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited series. The first video covered the amount of choice in options and play styles, while the latest details the possible activities for players to partake in, such as dungeons world bosses, Trials, and the Alliance War in Cyrodiil. Castle sieges, large-scale battles, and hulking bosses are all on display during the three-minute run time.

Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited trailer highlights choice

Bethesda has released a new video for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. Titled Freedom and Choice in Tamriel, the footage focuses on the extensive options available to players, such as the classes and races they can choose from to the playstyles made possible by the extensive amount of ability specialization options. Tamriel Unlimited includes all of the content from the original ESO, plus all subsequent patches and content updates, but without the subscription fee.

GOG updates Galaxy, optional program enters open beta

GOG’s Galaxy, an optional supplemental application that adds new functions to the service’s library, is now in open beta. The first new release to support the program will be The Witcher 3, which will be augmented with achievements, automatic updates, and stats. For the 1,000-plus titles already available, Galaxy will offer optional automatic updates, one-click installation, friends list, achievements, chat, online multiplayer and matchmaking, and the ability to rollback to previous patches. Some titles will also support cross-play between GOG and Steam.

Puuba and Mastertronic’s newest action title, The Weaponographist, is now available on Steam for Mac and Windows PC. As demon hunter and jerk extraordinaire Doug McGrave, players must fight their way through five dungeons and slay as many demons as possible in order to lift a curse brought on him after refusing to help a poor village. The curse quickly destroys any weapon he touches, so players must adapt and extend their combos for as long as possible to earn as much demon goop as they can to unlock the upgrades necessary for him to survive long enough to be cured.

Deep Silver to publish physical, digital versions of Mighty No. 9

Comcept is teaming up with Deep Silver to bring the side-scrolling, Keiji Inafune-helmed action platformer Mighty No. to stores and online on September 15. Physical versions will be available for PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One, while Linux, Mac, Windows PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 will be digital only. Digital versions for 3DS and PS Vita will launch at a later date. Deep Silver is also providing several localized versions with subtitles, in addition to English, French, and Japanese voice-over support.
