The first trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was revealed at GDC. The video showcases the new Fox Engine, the latest tool in Kojima Productions’ arsenal to seamlessly bridge gameplay and cutscenes, as well as the destruction of Mother Base, a maimed Snake, and a giant worm-like thing. The VR Mission DLC pack for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is now available for PS3. The 30-challenge drop is a nod to Metal Gear Solid’s VR Missions, which feature a variety of difficult scenarios for Raiden to complete as quickly (and painlessly) as possible, and is free until April 13.

In preparation for the upcoming PS3-exclusive VR Mission DLC pack, Konami has released Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on PSN. The Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames co-developed action title sees a cyborg Raiden on a quest to topple an out-of-control PMC. But there will be more action to come as it was also announced that the 30-mission drop will be available on March 12, and even better, it will be free until April 13.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the action role-playing- and real-time-strategy hybrid released in 2010 for PSP and 2011 as part of the HD Collection, is now available on PSN. In addition to art from Yoji Shinkawa and a variety of chatty (and singing) mech enemies for Snake to overcome, Peace Walker also features four-player co-op missions and a three-on-three versus mode, playable over wireless via Ad Hoc.

After a flurry of videos and screenshots, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has hit store shelves. The Kojima Productions and Platinum Games co-production features the former’s flair for storytelling and the latter’s love of crazy action in a new tale featuring everyone’s favorite white-haired ninja, Raiden. Well, maybe “favorite” is a strong word. More like the “Where did Solid Snake go? Who is this guy?!” game-usurping white-haired ninja. But this is the new-and-improved Raiden, the one from Metal Gear Solid 4, kitted out with cyborg limbs and a massive sword. It’s that same sword that will be used to dismember innumerable cyborgs and take down the notorious PMC Desperado Enforcement.

Two more Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance videos have been released, Depserado Elite and Skill Upgrades. The first covers a range of boss fights, with Raiden squaring off against a crew of strange soldiers representing Desperado Enterprises’ finest. The second, below, is a little over a minute long and looks at the powers Raiden will unlock throughout the game.
