Kalypso forms digital publisher Kobalt Games, reveals Blood Knights

Developer and publisher Kalypso Media has created a new digital-centric label, Kobalt Games. According to the announcement, “Kobalt Games will publish high-quality titles for PC, XBLA, PSN, Mac and Linux at a mid-price level, with a maximum price of £24.99, €29.99, $29.99, primarily via digital distribution channels.” Kobalt announced that its first game will be Blood Knights, a hack-n-slash action-RPG from Venetica and Jack Keane developer Deck 13 Interactive. Set in the Middle Ages, players will control two adventurers, a Templar vampire hunter and the vampire he is bound to, who must battle against armies of creatures to find the spell that will break their bond.

Kalypso has released some new screenshots from Haemimont Games’ upcoming city-builder Tropico 5. The latest installment will see El Presidente take control of the island during the Colonial Era and guide its inhabitants through the turbulent times and beyond. The latest screens are taken from a pre-alpha build that was debuted at this year’s Gamescom.

One of his many holdings, Kalypso Media, has released the new Propaganda DLC pack for Tropico 4. As a participant in the International Communist Propaganda competition, players will assist the president in completing the new Propaganda Competition mission by utilizing the new Propaganda Tower to suppress protests and convert citizens as well as by calling upon the PR Specialist trait to brainwash the masses. And of course, a new outfit is included, the Party Leader, to dazzle the competition.

Kalypso revisits the era of the Italian city-state with Rise of Venice

Kalypso, publisher of Tropico and Omerta, have revealed a new strategy-trading sim, Rise of Venice. Set during the Renaissance, Rise of Venice puts players in the shoes of a young merchant looking to turn his ragtag squad of trading ships into a mighty fleet that sails the world, with ports of call in Alexandria, Constantinople, Athens, Rome, and Tripoli. A story-driven campaign will see him and his family compete against the titans of the age, battling rivals at sea and in the parlors of influential politicians. Up to four players will be able to play together over LAN or Internet.
