Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Kalypso Media Digital
Kalypso has announced that they will be releasing a console version of Daedalic’s role-playing game Blackguards. The tactical-heavy title will be available for PS4 and Xbox One as the all-in-one Definitive Edition that includes the original game and the downloadable pack Untold Legends. The drop adds new battle maps, quests, and weapons. After being falsely accused of murder, players set out for Ascania on a quest for revenge, but as an outlaw, their only company is a set of rogues with potentially menacing motives. As a hunter, mage, or warrior, they will have access to over 90 spells and 40 skills to see them through the 60-hour adventure.
Kalypso will be releasing their hero-slaying kingdom sim Dungeons 2 for PS4 later this year. The console debut, set to launch on April 26, will include all previously released downloadable content on the disc. Four packs in total will be included: Pixieville, Morningwood, A Chance of Dragons, A Song of Sand and Fire, and A Clash of Pumpkins. The add-ons introduce new missions, enemies, and skirmishes. To show the game in action, Kalypso will be hosting a livestream today at 10:00 a.m. (CST) on their Twitch channel.
Kalypso has announced that they’ve entered into a partnership with Microids to release boxed copies of Agatha Christie – The ABC Murders for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Adopted from the novel of the same title, The ABC Murders puts players in the polished shoes of famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirot as he attempts to track down and unmask the A.B.C. killer. Players will have to solve puzzles, interview characters, and collect evidence. A three-part making-of series has been launched as well, and the entire run can be found below.
El Presidente is taking to the seas today in a new expansion for the PlayStation 4 version of Tropico 5, Waterborne. The add-on, the first for the PS4, features a six-scenario campaign, four new sandbox maps, nine offshore buildings, including floating apartments and power facilities that generate energy from waves, two avatar costumes along with six accessories, and submarines. The emphasis on water also adds new events and mechanics.
Tropico 5 will be spending some time in the shadows in the newly announced expansion Espionage. Scheduled to launch on May 28 for PC, and later this year for PS4 and Xbox 360, the expansion will add a new six-mission campaign, The Maltese Toucan, which will pit the player against the machinations of foreign agents who are after the regime’s secrets. The pack will also include nine spy- and military-themed buildings, such as security checkpoints, a spy academy, dungeons, and the Ministry of Information; four avatar costumes; six avatar accessories; four island maps; four music tracks; sandbox tasks; and spying mechanics, which will also be available in all multiplayer modes and current Sandbox maps.
El Presidente has decided to grace the new console generation with his presence today in Tropico 5. Players will once again be able to guide a small island nation through the ages, from World War I to the Cold War and beyond. A dynastic element allows the president’s family to be placed in positions so that his policies are implemented, but each change must be monitored to ensure that the people do not become angry or rival factions gain too much power. Players wanting a physical copy will get a bonus, as the retail version is the Limited Special Edition and comes with a Tropican password, a postcard, and two download packs, Bayo del Olfato and The Big Cheese.
Kalypso Media has announced that their digital arm will be releasing Dreampainters’ Anna, a new first-person horror-themed adventure title for the Mac and PC. Slated to launch on September 21 for $9.99, Anna centers around the titular character’s quest to uncover her past by making her way through a series of physics-based environmental puzzles strewn about an abandoned sawmill set in the Italian countryside.
