Drakerider launches on App Store with free first chapter
Square Enix has launched a new role-playing game for iOS, Witchcraft Inc.’s Drakerider. The first chapter is available free, with the remaining four chapters running $6.99 each, and introduces players to Aran Lawson and his dragon, Eckhardt. Final Fantasy Dimensions launches on App Store with free Prologue
Square Enix is harkening back to Final Fantasy’s 8- and 16-bit days today with the launch of Final Fantasy Dimensions for iOS. The first chapter in the new episodic saga, Prologue, is a free download that introduces players to the tale of the Avalonian Empire’s quest for peace and the world’s subsequent descent into darkness. Dimension features the return of job-based classes, as well as a sliding control pad and new work from composer Naoshi Mizuta.

SolaRola launches for Android, iOS
SolaRola, a new physics-based puzzle-platformer, is now available for Android and iOS devices. The Square Enix-published release has been re-imagined for mobile devices with new graphics, a new storyline, and a refined touch-and-tilt control scheme. As Wiz and Waz, players must make their way through maze-filled planets by bouncing around obstacles, including rocks and bombs, and deadly creatures to save the universe’s four guardians from Ping the Unmerciless.

NIS gets educational with Character Chowdown for iOS
NIS will be bringing the younger doods and doodettes into the fold shortly with the release of their educational iOS puzzle game Character Chowdown. Developed in conjunction with Yummy Yummy Tummy, Character Chowdown will help players learn Asian language sets by using a variety of colorful characters in conjunction with memory-recall-style play, as well as tailor lessons so that users will receive extra practice with the words giving them the most trouble.

Sega kicks off new sale for downloadable Sonics
Sega has launched a digital Sonic sale to kick off the summer, as well as to celebrate the franchise’s birthday this Saturday. The deals, with discounts up to 70% off, are good for consoles, with PSN and XBLA discounts, as well as Google Play and App Store sales for the mobile versions.

Street Fighter x Tekken Mobile announced for summer release
Capcom is bringing more of their brawlers to the App Store with Street Fighter x Tekken Mobile. The portable version, set to launch this summer, will be based off the console release but redesigned for touchscreen controls. The mobile version will also include new modes and a new form of the tag mechanic. The four-character roster includes Chun-Li, Kazuya, Nina, and Ryu.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II launches, mobile release dated
Sonic continues his fourth episode today with the launch of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II on PSN and Steam, and will be spin dashing onto Live Arcade tomorrow. The 1200 MS Point/$14.99 adventure will see Sonic and Tales battling old foes Doctor Robotnik and Metal Sonic. As a bonus, gamers who own both Episode I and II on the same platform will unlock the extra Metal Sonic addition, Episode Metal. Metal Sonic’s portion is comprised of four reworked acts from Episode I and details how he survived the end of Sonic CD.
