Sega Forever to launch free-to-play classics on mobile tomorrow

Sega is launching a new mobile initiative tomorrow dubbed Sega Forever. The new program allows gamers to download older Sega titles for free on their mobile devices. Described as “a re-awakening of archetypal gaming” the collection is billed as “an ode to the deep and diverse Sega catalogue.” The free-to-play games will be ad supported but also playable offline, and include extra features, such as cloud saves, controller support, and leaderboards. Ad-free versions are also available at a reduced rate of $1.99 per title. The company plans to add official emulations and ported games from every console era, retaining the originals as faithfully as possible while updating them for mobile platforms. The inaugural set includes Altered Beast, Sonic the Hedgehog, Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon, and Phantasy Star II. Gamers will find them on Google Play Store for Android devices and on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. New titles are set to be added every two weeks.

Nameless One returns! Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition out

Beamdog has expanded their enhanced role-playing catalog with the release of Planescape: Torment. Developed in collaboration with Chris Avellone, lead designer of the original release, Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition features an updated retelling of The Nameless One’s journey around the city of Sigil. Improvements include a revamped interface, tab highlighting, quick looting, area zooming, a combat log, and a remastered soundtrack. Added gameplay updates are also optional and can be turned off to revert the game back to its original release.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney releasing next month for Android, iOS

Mobile gamers are going to get a taste of true justice soon. Capcom has announced that they will be releasing Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney for smartphones and tablets next month, with versions for iOS launching on December 1 and Android on December 8. As rookie defense attorney Apollo Justice, players will visit crime scenes, collect evidence, and question witnesses. They will have to be thorough, as he’ll be facing off against flashy singer turned prosecutor Klavier Gavin. The mobile version will feature a tweaked interface, reworked graphics, and dual audio support for English and Japanese.

Fallout Shelter – Update 1.9 to add new quests, Thanksgiving extras

Fallout Shelter will receive an update later this month for the mobile and PC versions. Update 1.9 is slated to add several regular and weekly quests as well the caves from Fallout 4 as a new location. Thanksgiving-themed goodies will also be added, with timed quests, room visuals, seasonal outfits, and extra stickers for iOS 10 iMessage.

RPG Creator game-creation kit launching for iOS on September 25

Degica has announced that they will be expanding their role-playing creation kits to mobiles with RPG Creator for iOS. The app will allow users to craft their own handheld adventures, with options to create castles, caves, villages, and world maps, as well as access behavioral databases to control enemy actions and events. Assets can be imported to customize the quest, or users can utilize pre-made items provided in the download. Games will also be uploadable and downloadable, allowing for players to share their creations.

Mobius Final Fantasy now available for Android, iOS

Square Enix’s latest mobile role-playing title, Mobius Final Fantasy, has launched for Android and iOS. A free download with in-app purchases, Mobius focuses on character customization and ongoing live events. Players take on the role of an amnesiac who finds himself in the world of Palamecia. He’s soon tasked with investigating a prophecy about a warrior of light in order to restore hope. As a bonus, from now through August 31, special items are being rewarded for players who dive into the game, including Tidus’s weapon Brotherhood from FFX, extra Ability Tickets, bonus Summon Tickets, and a Yuna character card. Daily login rewards will also run through August 12, gifting players with extra Ability Tickets, Bronze Openers, and Elixirs.

Fallout Shelter released for PC, updated with Quests and new combat

The Windows PC version and next update for Fallout Shelter that were revealed during E3 have gone live. The PC version includes all of the updates for the mobile version, including pets, crafting, and Fallout 4 characters. The game is free and available to download exclusively through the Bethesda.net launcher. It also features everything from the new patch, Update 1.6. Also available today for the mobile versions, this beefy download adds a new Quest system, an accompanying combat system, and several new locations, such as Fallout 4’s Red Rocket Fuel Stop and the Super Duper Mart. The combat system allows for direct attacks and has a mini-game for landing critical hits. Players will need to make good use of it as they lead their dwellers against new bosses, ghouls, and radscorpions.

Romancing SaGa 2 debuts stateside for Android, iOS devices

Square Enix has brought Romancing SaGa 2 to North America for the first time. Originally released for the Super Famicom in 1993, mobile gamers will be able to play the first official localization on Android and iOS devices. The portable version has been updated with touch controls, improved graphics, the ability to auto-save, new classes (diviner and ninja), and a New Game+ mode. The multi-generational title follows the rulers of the Vareness Empire as they attempt to end a long-running war against the Seven Heroes. The storyline adds an imperial succession system, which ties together the freeform scenarios that were introduced in the original.

Fallout Shelter to get new pets, rooms, crafting, and more soon

Bethesda has announced that a new update is planned to launch later this week for Fallout Shelter. The 1.4 update will introduce crafting, new rooms in which to craft armor and weapons, lunchboxes with outfits and weapons from Fallout 4, the Barbershop to deck out the Dwellers in the new gear, a day-night cycle, and pets, including the addition of parrots. Pip-Boy app released for Android, iOS, Windows soon, for Fallout 4

Some more Fallout 4 news today, and that’s the release of Pip-Boy for Android, iOS, and later today, Windows mobile devices. The app will integrate with Fallout 4, displaying the player’s stats, inventory, map, and status. Holotape games are also playable, with Atomic Command included for free.
