inXile teams up with Deep Silver for Wasteland 2

inXile Entertainment has announced that they have partnered with Deep Silver in a new distribution deal for their upcoming role-playing game Wasteland 2. As one of two Kickstarter-funded titles, along with Torment: Tides of Numenera, there are a lot of extras needing to go out to a lot of backers. Deep Silver has signed on to not only handle the retail release but also the reward fulfillment for all campaign items. The Dead Island publisher will also assist with QA testing for the international versions.

inXile kickstarts Planescape successor, Torment: Tides of Numenera

inXile has sent word that they have started a new Kickstarter campaign, this time for the spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment, Torment: Tides of Numenera. After their success with last year’s Wasteland 2 campaign, inXile has decided to forgo the traditional publisher route in hopes of once again securing funding through crowdsourcing. Torment will be set in Monte Cook’s Numenera universe, a kickstarted pen-and-paper role-playing system where players gain experience through discoveries and from other players instead of combat. The game will be based around Numenera’s Ninth World and a power source so potent that the person who harnesses it will be able to topple empires and cheat death.

Mobile version of The Bard’s Tale updated, on sale

inXile has announced that the mobile version of The Bard’s Tale has been updated. The patch, available over Amazon, BlackBerry App World, and Google Play, adds GamePad support, SD card save support, and the first two original Bard’s Tale titles (The Bard’s Tale I: Tales of the Unknown and The Bard’s Tale II: The Destiny Knight). The update also ensures that the Android version is compatible with the Google Nexus 10 and Nexus 4 by upping the resolution to 2560×1600.

inXile has taken the bard to new lands today with the launch of The Bard’s Tale for Android. As with the iOS release, the Android version will eventually include the original trilogy. The launch App includes the 2004 version and The Bard’s Tale I: Tales of the Unknown, with 1986’s The Bard’s Tale II: The Destiny Knight and 1988’s The Bard’s Tale III: The Thief of Fate set to be added over the next few months.

According to the studio, if the campaign reaches $2,100,000, then Chris Avellone, chief creative officer of Obsidian Entertainment, will work directly with the design team. In addition, Obsidian as a company will also chip in by providing expertise and development tools.

Developer inXile is looking to Kickstarter to fund Wasteland 2. The follow-up, twenty years in the making (so to speak), will be to one of the most influential role-playing games ever released, and it will be up to fans to fund its development. inXile stated that Wasteland 2 will be true to the original, with a top-down perspective, turn-based design, and tactical combat. The game will feature moral dilemmas, and decisions which will require choosing the best of only bad options. The studio also wants to work closely with the Kickstarter backers, to ensure that the game created is the one that fans have been wanting.

inXile returns to gaming today with the launch of Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. The co-op action fantasy title, published by Bethesda, is now available for the PC, 360, and PS3. Players get to control two adventurers, the ranged weapon expert E’lara and master swordsman Caddoc. The duo will have to work together to make their way through co-op puzzles while using spells, blades, and cover tactics to battle their way through hordes of enemies.
