QuakeCon 2013 pre-registration opens, limited packages announced
Online pre-registration will launch today at 7:00 p.m. (CST) for QuakeCon 2013. Admission is free, as always, but pre-registration will be for the for-pay packages that offer additional perks and extra goodies. There are four packages in total, each offering different extras, from swag to guaranteed seating, as well as options to mix and match. All packages are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bethesda releases seven soundtracks on iTunes
Bethesda has released seven soundtracks from their lineup of role-playing games, shooters, and everything in between on iTunes. Fans can now purchase the soundtracks for Dishonored, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, and the last three Elder Scrolls titles, Morrowind, Skyrim, and Oblivion. Perfect for those days when you want your commute to feel a bit more like the journey into a post-apocalyptic, mutant-filled wasteland that you wish it was.

Doom 3 BFG Edition now available for 360, PC, and PS3
After eight years, Doom 3 returns to store shelves today as Doom 3 BFG Edition. The enhanced re-release features updated versions of the 2004 original and its Resurrection of Evil expansion, as well as a new eight-level chapter called The Lost Missions. Old and new content alike support 3D, improved rendering and lighting, a new checkpoint save system, and 5.1 surround sound. As an added bonus, the collection also includes classic versions of Doom and Doom II.

Doom 3 BFG Edition trailer emerges from QuakeCon 2012
With QuakeCon 2012 in full swing, id and Bethesda have released new footage from the upcoming Doom 3 re-release, Doom 3 BFG Edition. The trailer, The Lost Mission, shows off some of the new seven-level chapter of the same name. It,Doom 3, and the Resurrection of Evil expansion will all support 5.1 surround sound and 3D. The set will also include Doom and Doom II.

QuakeCon 2012 – full panel schedule announced
Bethesda and id have announced the full panel schedule for QuakeCon 2012. In addition to a keynote address from John Carmack and hands-on demos of Dishonored and Doom 3: BFG, attendees can look forward to sitting in on a number of panels, with topics including what goes into designing long-lasting multiplayer and a history of famed developer Looking Glass.

John Carmack keynote address to kick off QuakeCon 2012
QuakeCon 2012, id and Bethesda’s upcoming celebration of all things fragging (and recently, role-playing), will begin with a keynote address from John Carmack. A handful of the planned panels were also announced, including The Game of Making Games and Designing Multiplayer Games That Last, with such panelists as Marty Stratton from id Software, Ted Price, President and CEO of Insomniac Games, as well as Chet Faliszek and Tom Leonard from Valve Software.

QuakeCon 2012 – Quake Live tournaments detailed
id and Bethesda have released the tournament schedule for this year’s QuakeCon. Scheduled to run August 2-5 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas, the free convention will include a variety of Quake Live events, with competitors going at it in four different tournaments, detailed below, to try to get their hands on some of the $30,000 in prize money up for grabs.
