Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Hitman: Absolution
Agent 47 is getting in touch with his conspiratorial side today with the launch of Deus Ex-themed DLC for Hitman: Absolution. Not only will Agent 47 be able to sport some futuristic duds with the Deus Ex Suit download, but he will also be able to pack Jensen’s favorite pistol with the Zenith Gun pack. Alas, the good Agent still won’t be able to hack into turrets.
It’s not easy being an assassin, even a very good assassin. Agent 47 has found that out the hard way, and now players can help him get back at those who double crossed him in Hitman: Absolution. Wanted by the police and finding himself in the middle of a conspiracy, Agent 47 must use whatever disguises and weapons he has at his disposal to see his mission through. Apparently, that barcode tattoo isn’t nearly as telling a sign as I had assumed.
Square Enix has released “Introducing the Living, Breathing World of Hitman: Absolution,” a new video demonstrating the interconnected world that awaits players in IO Interactive’s upcoming action title. Absolution will feature a more involved world than previous entries, populated with characters, both those crucial to the story and those simply living in the cities, going about their everyday life. The capabilities of IO’s Glacier 2 engine, the new tech powering the series, is also highlighted.
It’s not easy being a virtual assassin—alliances shift, guns jam, people run. So to help everyone get up to speed on what’s in store in Hitman: Absolution, Square Enix and I/O have released a new 18-minute playthrough video, with developer commentary, of the new Contracts Mode. In Contracts, players create their own custom hits by tweaking level, rules, and targets, and then share them online for others to try.
A few new pre-order items have been announced for Square Enix and IO Interactive’s Hitman: Absolution. Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart are offering a suit and weapon combo, detailed below, while GameStop has thrown down the gauntlet with a standalone minigame: Sniper Challenge. Developed by IO Interactive, Hitman: Sniper Challenge will be available on May 15 on Live and PSN (August 1 on PC via Steam), months before Absolution’s November 20 launch. As an added bonus, all unlocked items and upgrades in Sniper Challenge will carry over to Absolution.
Square Enix has announced a Professional Edition as well as several pre-order programs for Hitman: Absolution. The premium edition runs $79.99 and includes a clamshell box, hardcover art book, making-of development footage, and several in-game items: the Agency HX UMP submachine gun, Agency Jagd P22G pistol, and Agency SPS 12 semi-auto shotgun. Both the standard and premium versions are available for pre-order, and Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart are all running programs. Currently, the offers consist of the Bartoli Custom Pistol at Amazon, Bronson 1928M SMG at Best Buy, Sniper Rifle: Agency Kazo TRG at GameStop, and Krugermeier 2-2 Pistol at Walmart. Additional pre-order extras will be announced in the near future.
