Halo Wars 2 trailer up, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition rolling out Dec. 20

343 Industries’ Dan Ayoub released new info about Halo Wars 2 at this year’s The Game Awards. The first bit is a new trailer that centers around Atriox, the leader of the Banished, which can be found below. The other is that everyone who pre-orders the digital version of the Ultimate Edition will receive early access to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, an enhanced version of the original, along with its downloadable content, for PC and Xbox One. Codes for it will be sent out beginning December 20. A trailer was also released for the Definitive Edition.

Two tracks by Gordy Haab, Finishing Move released from Halo Wars 2

343 Industries has revealed that Gordy Haab and Finishing Move will be contributing new tracks to Halo Wars 2. Haab has worked on several titles, including Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: The Old Republic, while Finishing Move’s work has appeared in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Two of tunes, “Run, Little Demons” and “Isabel’s Awakening,” have been released on Soundcloud. Halo 5: Guardians – Anvil’s Legacy out for Xbox One, Forge for PC

343 Industries has released Halo 5: Guardians – Anvil’s Legacy, the entry’s ninth free add-on, and Halo 5: Forge for Windows 10. Accompanying the launches are two overview trailers, one for each drop. Studio head Josh Holme also released a letter going into greater detail about how the two tie together, and what the release of Forge for PC means for the future of Halo 5. Forza Horizon 3 goes goooooold, Halo fans to get bonus Warthog

Turn 10 Studios has sent word that their open-world racer Forza Horizon 3 has gone gold for PC and Xbox One. Additionally, the studio also released the recommended PC specs, the game’s list of Achievements, and revealed the inclusion of Halo’s Warthog. The M12S Warthog CST will be added at release and sent as a free download to everyone who has played Halo 5 or Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Codes will be sent through Xbox Live Message beginning the week of September 5. Racer fans that aren’t into shooters can still get a code by taking part in this October’s #Forzathon event. The recommended specs and Achievement list can be found below, along with an extra shot of the green beast.

Halo 5: Guardians – Anvil’s Legacy DLC, Forge for PC to hit Sept. 8

Halo 5: Forge is set to launch on September 8 for Windows 10. Releasing alongside Forge will be Halo 5: Guardians’ ninth free content update, Anvil’s Legacy. Forge will allow players to create, share, and play on maps for Halo 5, which should be easier with a keyboard and mouse, and will also feature sharper visuals, including support for 4k, the ability to play and host 16-player custom matches, and a new multiplatform content browser. Anvil’s Legacy will also include a streamlined crossover content browser for Forge, plus two new maps (Arena’s Mercy, Warzone’s Temple) and several new REQs. The requisitions will add three weapons, Sound Dampener attachments, and customization options.

343 Industries releases letter on development plans for Halo Wars 2

343 Industries held an open beta this past June for their upcoming real-time strategy title Halo Wars 2. Today, the studio released a letter detailing what was learned from the feedback sent in during and after the period, and their plans on how they will address several of the reoccurring issues. Some of the topics covered include changes to leader power balance and an increase to the current population count. Check out the full letter below.

A new video documentary has gone live for Halo Wars 2. The latest entry is introduced by a post from 343 Industries’ franchise development director Frank O’Connor, posted below, and is part of the studio’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Supplementing the doc is some new media, including a cinematic teaser, screenshots, and art.

Halo 5: Guardians’ eighth, and according to 343 the largest, free content update has gone live. Warzone Firefight includes two armor sets, three maps, customization options, the Halo 2 Beam rifle, the UNSC air vehicle, and a Forge canvas, Tidal. Additionally, players can tackle the new Score Attack mode in the campaign and Warzone Firefight online. A limited-time promo also kicks off today, the Firefight REQ Reward program, which bestows a Gold REQ Pack to everyone who plays Guardians. Ten are available, the remaining being unlocked by playing in Warzone Firefight. As previously mentioned, Halo 5: Guardians is free to download for Gold members from today until July 5, and the full version is 50% off via Xbox Store.

Halo 5: Guardians – Warzone Firefight revealed, launching June 29

Halo 5: Guardians will be receiving free additional content next Wednesday in a new update, Warzone Firefight. The eighth expansion will add the new game mode, and update namesake, Warzone Firefight. After some time in beta, the final version of the mode will have a gradually increasing difficulty level, along with new bosses and REQs. The REQs will offer new vehicles, armors, and weapons (UNSC VTOL, AV-49 Wasp, etc.). These will be accessible in Forge as well, which is also getting a new canvas, the ocean-themed Tidal. Multiplayer will be expanded with three new maps: Attack on Sanctum, Prospect, and Molten. The campaign isn’t being left out, either, as it will get Score Attack. As in previous titles, Score Attack allows players to compete with one another for the highest score, solo or in co-op, with points determined by how stylishly enemies are defeated. 343 is planning on showing everyone the ropes with a Firefight pre-release livestream at the official Twitch channel on June 28, 4 p.m. (CST).

E3 2016 – Microsoft: Xbox One 2, Scorpio, Forza Horizon, Dead Rising

Microsoft had plenty to show at their conference, including gameplay reveals of Rare’s Pirate-themed multiplayer-entric Sea of Thieves and the co-op-friendly Forza Horizon 3. Other trailers posted below include announcement videos for Dead Rising 4, State of Decay 2, and We Happy Few, plus more from Scalebound, ReCore, and others. Phantom Dust is still a go, too (woo!). Play Anywhere was prominent, which further integrates Xbox One and Windows 10 by offering cross-buy support and same-day release for MS-published titles. The biggest reveals were the Xbox One S and Project Scorpio. The Xbox One S will be 40 percent smaller, come in white, have an internal power supply, support 4K Ultra HD for Blu-rays and streaming content, support High Dynamic Range (HDR) for games, and come with an updated controller. Kinect adapters will be required, but they will be free from Microsoft. The systems will roll out August 2016 for $299 (500 GB), $349 (1 TB), and $399 (limited launch edition 2 TB). Project Scorpio will be arriving holiday 2017, and is being described as “the most powerful console ever created” with support for 4K gaming and VR thanks to its “6 teraflops of GPU.” All Xbox One games will work on all Xbox One systems.
