Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Grid 2
Codemasters’ latest racer, Grid 2, is now available for 360, PC, and PS3. Launching alongside the title is the new RaceNet website that allows players to track their progress, access new events, tackle global challenges, and unlock special achievements. An app that will tie in to the site is also nearing completion, and is scheduled to launch “very soon.”
In this week’s ‘Holy Hell!’ entry, we have Codemasters announcing that they are releasing a £125,000 (roughly $189,000) edition of Grid 2. Dubbed Grid 2: Mono Edition, this ultra premium edition is, according to the release, being recognized by Guinness World Records as the “Most Expensive Video Game Commercially Available – Special Edition”. So, what does nearly $200,000 get you? A copy of the game—whew!—a BAC Mono supercar in Grid 2 livery, a day at the BAC factory that includes a tour and visit with technicians to customize the BAC Mono, a themed Mono Edition-branded Bell Racing helmet, race wear (suit, boots, and gloves made to measure), and a PlayStation 3.

A new trailer and a few screens have been released for Grid 2. The video is part one of a new series, World Series Racing. This first segment is titled An American Dream and focuses on US-based events, including Street Racing in Chicago, Road Racing along the California coast, and Track Racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Grid 2 has been dated for North America, and is scheduled to hit store shelves for 360, PC, and PS3 on May 28. A number of pre-order in-game extras were also revealed, with Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop each offering different download packs. There are four packs in total: McLaren Racing Pack (GameStop), Indycar Pack (Best Buy), Head Start Pack (Amazon), and GTR Racing Pack (GameStop). Details for each can be found below.
Codemasters has announced that Grid 2 is currently in full development for 360, PC, and PS3. The sequel will bring back the Flashback time-rewind feature from the original, as well as feature four decades’ worth of selected rides from Asia, Europe, and the U.S. Players will race on courses from licensed circuits around the world, with tracks hosted in such locales as Abu Dhabi, California, Miami, and Paris.
