A new developer video series has been releasing for Birthdays the Beginning. The first features the game’s creator, Yasuhiro Wada, discussing the creation element and its concepts. Specific topics touched on include the game’s Macro and Micro modes, which will allow players to view their world in its entirety as a cube or on a ground level, amongst the flora and fauna. The next entry will focus on two new topics: Nurture and Celebrate.
NIS has sent word that their upcoming god-game-like sandbox title Birthdays the Beginning will be released on March 7. The PC, PS4 title’s development is being headed by Yasuhiro Wada, who will be on a stream today on the studio’s Twitch channel, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. (CST), to discuss the project. Shortly after that, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (CST), he will take part in a Reddit AMA.

As a transforming force, players guide a cube-shaped world by manipulating its terrain and weather to alter the evolution of the creatures on the planet. Currently in development at Toybox, and headed by Harvest Moon creator Yasuhiro Wada, the god-game-style sim allows players to create a cube-shaped world that will become home to various lifeforms. Players can transform the world by adjusting the terrain and weather to influence the evolution of the creatures, from single-celled organisms to dinosaurs. The video is fresh from this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
Ubisoft has released their latest God game from Eric Chahi and Ubisoft Montpellier, From Dust. Available on Live Arcade for 1200 MS Points, From Dust allows players to control a power known as The Breath, which is used by a primitive tribe to survive the wilds of nature. The villagers must be protected from an array of natural disasters as they make their way throughout the world, including like tsunamis and volcanoes. In addition to the main campaign is a Challenge mode, which will have players “using their god-like powers in creative ways to ensure the safety of the inhabitants.”
