Gears of War: Judgment dated and detailed, Gears 3 drops to $30
People Can Fly, the studio behind Painkiller and the ridiculously fun Bulletstorm, is getting their turn at the Gears of War franchise next year with the Epic Games co-developed Gears of War: Judgment. Microsoft has announced that the prequel, set shortly after Emergence Day but before the original Gears, will launch on March 19. In addition to new enemies, locations, and weapons, Judgement will include a new class-based, Horde and Beast hybrid multiplayer mode called OverRun.

Gears of War 3 gets Forces of Nature DLC map pack
It’s time to grab some galoshes and a raincoat because Gears of War 3′s Forces of Nature DLC has hit Live Marketplace. The new pack includes five multiplayer maps: Aftermath, Artillery, Cover, Jacinto, and Raven Down. As the name indicates, each level has a weather theme, with Aftermath featuring a flooding city, tornado-force winds in Artillery, heavy fog in Cover, torrential rains and Imulsion contamination in Jacinto, and snow storms in Raven’s Down.

Gears of War 3 – Fenix Rising DLC launches on Live
Gears of War 3’s third DLC pack, Fenix Rising, is now available on Live Marketplace. The follow-up to RAAM’s Shadow includes five new Fenix-themed multiplayer maps, four character skins (Recruit Clayton, Thrashball Cole – Limited Edition, Savage Marauder, and Savage Kantus – Limited Edition), and a new experience system that allows for high-ranking players to “Re-up.” Re-upping allows players who reach level 100 to have their rank and experience reset in exchange for new wing and rank number colors, as well as an exclusive weapon skin. Players can re-up three times, though no other forms of progression, such as the TrueSkill rating, will be reset.

Gears of War 3 – RAAM’s Shadow DLC now on Live
Gears of War 3′s latest campaign DLC, RAAM’s Shadow, is now available on Live Marketplace for 1200 MS Points. The campaign, estimated to be around three hours long, will feature missions for both the Gears and Locusts. While the new Zeta Squad attempts to evacuate the city of Ilima in the face of a Kryll storm shortly after Emergence Day, RAAM turns his attention to a holdout human stronghold.

Gears of War 3 gets free DLC courtesy of new Mission: Impossible
To help promote Paramount Pictures’ upcoming Brad Bird-directed spy thriller Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Gears of War 3 players will be able to snag a download of the Versus Booster Map Pack for free on Thanksgiving. The DLC includes two new maps (Bullet Marsh and Clocktower) as well as three more from the Horde Command Pack (Azura, Rustlung, and Blood Drive). But there’s more! A free weapon skin pack is also on offer to players from around the globe … but there’s a catch.

Gears of War 3 to get free DLC, Horde Command Pack launches
To celebrate the launch of Gears of War 3′s Horde Command Pack, Epic Games and Microsoft have announced a free Versus Booster Map Pack set to hit Live Marketplace on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24). The pack will include five maps, two from the original Gears of War and three from Horde Command Pack: Azura, Blood Drive, Clocktower, Rustlung, and Swamp.

Gears of War 3 – RAAM’s Shadow DLC dated, detailed
Gears of War 3 will be receiving a new campaign DLC release just in time for the holidays, RAAM’s Shadow. The new pack will launch on December 13 (1200 MS Points) and feature a three-hour-plus campaign set before the first Gears of War, with a cast featuring some new characters as well as some old faces. As a member of Zeta Squad, players will be tasked with providing protection for the evacuees of Ilima City as they set off during a Locust Kryll storm. And for a shift in perspective, RAAM himself will be playable at one point.
