Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: GamesCom 2012
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, the 3DS adventure set 25 years after Lords of Shadow, will be whipping things up (ha!) early next year. Konami didn’t announce a specific date, only “early 2013,” but that should be coming along shortly. Until then, enjoy some of the new screenshots revealed at this year’s Gamescom.
11bit Studios revealed at this year’s Gamescom that they are currently developing a follow-up to their recent tower offense title, Anomaly: Warzone Earth, titled Anomaly Korea. No specifics on operating systems or consoles, only “mobiles” mentioned as their target platform, but given that Warzone Earth has been released for Android, iOS, XBLA, and soon PSN, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to give it a shot (well, more like call down a smoke screen, but that doesn’t have the same ring to it).
Blizzard has revealed the opening cinema to the upcoming latest World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria, at Gamescom 2012. A slew of new screenshots were also released, showing some of the new locales, items, and actions that are in store.
And the Gamescom goods continue. Square Enix has released a new batch of screenshots from Crystal Dynamic’s upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, the aptly titled Tomb Raider. The new screens show Lara keeping fletchers in business and discovering all sorts of things in the wilds, from religious statues to failed predecessors and lovely fauna (i.e., dinner).
Capcom has unveiled a new title from a brand-new IP at GamesCom, Remember Me. Currently in development at Dontnod Entertainment, Remember Me is a third-person action title that puts players in the role of an elite memory hunter, Nilin, who herself has had her memory stolen. She will use her ability to break into people’s minds to steal or alter their memories—and probably break a few bones, too—in a quest to uncover her own past.
More reveals in anticipation of this year’s Gamecom, and this one is a new Assassin’s Creed III naval-tastic trailer from Ubisoft. The new footage focuses on Conner’s ability to command a warship and lead a hardy crew through rough seas and against enemy vessels. A few new screens were also released.
Activision has released seven new screenshots showing off Call of Duty: Black Ops II’s multiplayer component. The screens were released in conjunction with Gamescom, the Germany-based trade show of all things video games.
Attendees of this year’s GamesCom in Cologne, Germany will be able to get a peek at several upcoming Blizzard releases. The House of –Craft has announced that they will be showcasing Mists of Pandaria, the fourth expansion for World of Warcraft, the upcoming StarCraft II add-on Heart of the Swarm, and the recently released Diablo III. Other slated events include pro gamers duking it out and signing sessions with employees.
