Bethesda had a number of surprises at their E3 presentation. Not only is Fallout 4 coming out this November, less than four months away, but a new Fallout game is also out for iOS. Additionally, Dishonored Definitive Edition and Dishonored 2 were revealed, and more was shown from their upcoming free-to-play PC arena action title BattleCry and id’s latest efforts on Doom. Lionhead’s Fable Legends will be a free-to-play release for Xbox One (Xbox Live Gold required) and Windows 10 PC, according to Microsoft. The game will feature regular rotation of heroes (four-character sets, with saved stats and heroes permanently attainable through progression or by purchase), earnable in-game silver but purchasable gold, the ability to lay traps, and the option of purchasing the allegiance of creatures. A FAQ was posted with additional details, and for the especially curious, a video with the game’s director, David Eckelberry, explains the development team’s design philosophy.
Edge Case Games, a new studio formed from veterans of the Strike Suit Zero development team, have announced their first tile: Fractured Space. Unlike the fast-paced mech action of Strike Suit Zero, Fractured Space will be an online-only, team-based strategy title centered on large-scale combat with capital ships. Both teamwork and scale are important aspects of the game, as noted by CEO James Brooksby: “we want to transmit a sense of scale to the player – the feeling of participating in a massive space battle inside their own titanic capital ship, blasting apart enemy ships and working together with other players to achieve a common objective.” Founding community members are also lending a hand during development, an approach the team hopes to continue when the game is added on Steam Early Access next year.
A new patch has gone live for Ace Combat Infinity. The free-to-play title is being expanded with five new aircraft, an increased level cap for 15 craft, nine new aircraft parts, seven new campaign missions, new special raid missions for Stonehenge and another limited-time mission, and the ability to view rankings for allies and rivals. Full details can be found below.
Upcoming PC free-to-play fighter Rise of Incarnates is scheduled to enter closed beta on August 8. Gamers interested in signing up to access the beta, which will run until 11:50 p.m. (PDT) on August 17, can go here. At launch, the closed beta will include characters Ares, Grim Reaper, Lilith, and Mephistopheles, with Brynhildr set to be added on August 13, as well as two battlegrounds, New York City and Paris. A few purchasable items will be made available for testing out the character-customization system.
Ace Combat Infinity, the series’ first free-to-play entry, passed the one-million-download mark during May, according to Bandai Namco. To celebrate, Project Aces will gift every player who checks their notification about the commemoration before August 18 a free special aircraft, the Mirage 2000-5 -White Tiger-. The studio’s other free-to-play title, Soulcalibur Lost Swords, also surpassed one million downloads. A One Million Download Campaign was kicked off in honor of the milestone, and from July 9 to 23, players will be able to battle through a new campaign as well as take on special quests to unlock Ivy, Astaroth, and gift items.
Ace Combat Infinity, the first free-to-play entry in the series, has gone live for PS3. Available on PSN, the Project Ace-developed Infinity includes a single-player campaign, where players take on the role of a mercenary in the near future, and co-op missions. Alongside up to three other pilots, players will face off against another team to take down the most enemies. Progress opens up customization rewards for virtual pilots to tailor their craft in both single player and multiplayer. A series of special launch events were also announced, and details for each are available below.
Bandai Namco has announced a slew of new titles across all platforms. Some of the highlights include the development of Grid Autosport for 360, PC, and PS3, the localization of both Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and Tales of Hearts R for PS Vita, and details about Tales of Xillia 2’s $130 Collector’s Edition. Additional info about each of those, and more, can be found below. We’ve also posted some new screenshots from the free-to-play PSN release Ace Combat Infinity, the PC version of Dark Souls II, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle for PS3.
