Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope gets new co-op mode, difficulty levels

Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope has been updated to support co-op play. Up to two players can now fight alongside one another through all levels available on Steam Early Access. The levels are set within the VR simulation of Sam’s combat log, with players capable of using the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, or one of each. Additionally, the update includes tweaks, fixes, and two new difficulty settings, playable in single player or co-op modes: Tourist and Serious.

Call of Duty remains #1 selling console franchise for eighth year

Call of Duty is the #1 top-selling console game franchise in North America, according to Activision. The series continues its run, recently marking its eighth consecutive year. Additionally, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is the #1 console video game in the United States, based on year-to-date revenues from physical unit sales, and, also based on revenue from physical unit sales, the #1 top-selling console title for November. Infinite Warfare isn’t selling as much as Black Ops 3, but the publisher has high expectations given the latter’s high retention, due to a paced schedule of downloadable content, which is also planned for Infinite Warfare as well Modern Warfare Remastered.

Dishonored 2 to get free update next week with New Game Plus

Dishonored 2’s first free game update has been announced and dated for next week. Arkane is using the update to note only improve performance but to also add a new feature. Beginning Monday, and today as part of the beta update for PC, players can access New Game Plus. In the mode, accessible once the game has been completed, players will be able to access both Corvo’s and Emily’s ability sets as well as all Bonecharm Traits and Runes found during the playthrough. Two more features were announced to be added in January, as part of the second free update: Custom Difficulty Settings and Mission Select.

Destiny: Rise of Iron – The Dawning event kicks off today

Bungie has begun the latest event for Destiny: Rise of Iron, The Dawning. The event adds new quests, bounties, gear, emblems, emotes, and more. A record book with new challenges has also been added, while the Sparrow Racing League returns with two additional tracks, one set on Earth and the other on Mercury. Shadow Warrior 2 gets free trial-based DLC, The Way of the Wang

Shadow Warrior 2 received a new free download pack today, The Way of the Wang. The seven-trial drop adds an area in the game’s hub town that allows access to trials that unlock new weapon gem slots, weapon upgrades, and crafting abilities. Those that are able to complete the final mission, Trial of the Ancient God, will receive a new weapon, the Fist of Gozu. Additionally, the game will receive three new Insane difficulty levels and five extra achievements. For those on the fence, it’s currently 25 percent off as part of a weekend-long promotion.

Doom trailer highlights bots, new mode, more in Free Update 5

A new gameplay video has gone live showcasing Doom’s Free Update 5. The update brings a variety of additions and changes, including the new competitive mode Infernal Run for Multiplayer, where teams fight for a ball to score in their opponent’s goal; bot support in the original maps in Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch; and a rank extension to Echelon 11, which unlocks the Doom Marine Armor (Praetor Suit). SnapMap also receives some goodies, including additional elements from the campaign, Lazarus Lab-themed modules and props, and the Doom Marine in the traditional armor. PSX 2016 – Activision: Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, Destiny The Dawning

Crash is set to return next year in Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. The bundle will feature remasters of the first three titles: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Vicarious Visions is rebuilding each game from the ground up, adding new lighting, animations, environments, and cutscenes. The audio is also being updated with a revamped soundtrack and new dialogue recorded with some of the original actors. The three will also support a unified save system, a similar checkpoint system, and analog stick functionality. Lastly, Bungie will kick off a three-week-long event for Destiny: Rise of Iron, The Dawning, on December 13. The winter festivities will include new Quests, Bounties, and customization items, plus an additional Record Book and game mode, Strike Scoring. Sparrow Racing League will also return, complete with two new tracks, one on Earth and the other on Mercury.

Space Hulk: Deathwing trailer showcases 13 minutes of gameplay

Space Hulk: Deathwing recently wrapped up its technical beta, allowing tens of thousands of players to try their hands at the game’s co-op mode, but its release is still a week away. To hold everyone over, developer Streum On has released a new gameplay video of the single-player campaign. The 13 minutes of footage follows the player as their Deathwing squad explores the the Space Hulk and battles Ymgarl Genestealers.

Arkane releases eight minutes of gameplay from Prey

A new gameplay walkthrough has been released for Prey. Arkane Studio’s upcoming first-person shooter, set to be released next year, finds players waking up in Talos I, a ransacked space station that’s been overrun by aliens. The sequel will offer a more open-ended approach to tackling levels, and creative director Raphael Colantonio and lead designer Ricardo Bare detail those sorts of possibilities in the video.

Gameplay trailer released for Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: Scarif

Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: Scarif received a new trailer today. The video runs a little over a minute long and features ground- and space-based combat, as rebels fend off an invasion force. The add-on will feature battles inspired by the upcoming film, along with two new playable heroes: Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic. Four new maps are also being added that will introduce the jungles and beaches of Scarif. Along with the maps, a new multi-stage game mode is being debuted that mixes space and ground combat.
