Bethesda has announced that Doom will be launching on May 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In addition, the game will be released as a standard as well as a collector’s edition. Both of which will be eligible for a pre-order bonus, the Demon Multiplayer downloadable pack. A new gameplay trailer has gone live to celebrate the news.

Treyarch has released their latest download pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Awakening, for PS4. The drop includes four new multiplayer maps, including a re-imagined version of Black Ops II’s Hijacked, and a chapter for Zombies, Der Eisendrache. Der Eisendrache is the first in a four-part series that sees the return of Origin characters Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey. Details for all additions can be found below.

The Replacer’s back to sell Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Awakening

Treyarch’s brought back an old acquaintance to promote the new Awakening DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The Replacer Returns sees Peter Stormare (Fargo, The Blacklist) reprising his role as series pitchman and going through a bizarre sequence of events that sees him walking dogs, cooking, and modeling. Awakening is set to hit on February 2 for PS4 with four new multiplayer maps and a new Zombies mission, Der Eisendrache.

Homefront: The Revolution co-op mode trailer, details released

Deep Silver has detailed the four-player co-op mode in Homefront: The Revolution. The upcoming open-world first-person shooter’s Resistance Mode will allow players to form a Resistance Cell to battle the KPA in story-driven missions throughout Philadelphia. Players will level as they play, unlocking new skills, equipment, and weapon blueprints. A trailer was released to show the mode in action, while a closed beta is currently scheduled to run February 11-14 for Xbox One. Community members who’ve signed up on the official site will also get a chance to take part in stress tests, which are planned for January 29 and February 5 for Xbox One. Also announced is the Revolutionary Spirit pre-order pack, which will come with unique skins and access to select weapons for the campaign.

The official trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops III – Awakening: Der Eisendrache has gone live. The first downloadable chapter in the latest Zombies mode adds Origin characters Dempsey, Nicolai, Richtofen, and Takeo. The group must explore a medieval castle that’s been built on a deposit of Element 115, and survive the ensuing onslaught of monsters. Awakening will be released first for PS4 on February 2.

343 Industries has released their latest free content update for Halo 5: Guardians. Infinity’s Armory adds new maps (Riptide for Arena, Urban for Warzone Assault), assassinations, skins, weapons, including carbine variations and the Halo 2 Battle Rifle, and the Achilles armor set. Halo 5: Guardians – Infinity’s Armory detailed, launching next week

343 Industries is prepping to release their third content update for Halo 5: Guardians, Infinity’s Armory. The download will include a new Arena map, the debris-filled Riptide; a new Warzone Assault Map, Urban; and the Halo 2 Battle Rifle as a Mythic REQ in Warzone and in Forge. Those are in addition to several other REQs, including rare variants of the carbine, new assassinations, and the Achilles armor set. Infinity’s Armory will be free, as with Cartographer’s Gift and Battle of Shadow and Light, and download automatically next week.

Homefront’s upcoming open-world sequel The Revolution has been officially dated for May 17, according to Deep Silver. A closed beta is also scheduled for February, but it will only be for the Xbox One version, and gaining access to it will require an Xbox One Beta Token. Deep Silver noted that the best way to get a token is by registering on the official site, since it will provide news on the upcoming promotions with Xbox that will reward them. A new trailer has also gone live to get players up to speed before they hit the streets for some guerrilla warfare, with This is Philadelphia detailing the city’s occupation and its zones of control.

Xbox One holiday lineup sells 1 million each, Windows 10 doing well

Microsoft announced some new stats for Windows 10 and Xbox One. On the PC front, Windows 10 is said to be active on over 200 million devices worldwide, with over 40 percent of new Windows 10 devices being activated since Black Friday. Over 11 billion hours have been spent using the new OS. In gaming, the heavy hitters of MS’ holiday lineup—Forza Motorsport 6, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Halo 5, and Rise of the Tomb Raider—have each sold over a million units. Over 350 games were made playable throughout the year, and Xbox users have accumulated over 4 billion achievements and 77 billion in Gamerscore. Backwards compatibility is also proving to be popular, with players logging over 15 million hours in the 100-plus titles that are now playable.

Activision Blizzard acquires Major League Gaming

Activision Blizzard is expanding their eSport footprint with the acquisition of Major League Gaming. MLG is over 12 years old with over nine million registered users, and hosts more than 180 players throughout its operated events. The league’s live-streaming capabilities will be used to augment Activision Blizzard’s Media Networks division. According to the announcement, MLG will still run MLG.tv, MLG Pro Circuit, and GameBattles, as well as continue working with its current partners and other publishers.
