Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Final Fantasy VII
Square Enix announced during last weekend’s PlayStation Experience that they will be bringing over the updated PC version of Final Fantasy VII to PS4. At another conference today in Shanghai, PlayStation China, the studio revealed that they will also be porting over Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. The latter is said to include unspecified system-exclusive features. Both titles will be available this spring, with Final Fantasy VII as a $15.99 download and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster as a $49.99 download or retail boxed copy.
The downloadable enhanced re-release of Final Fantasy VII has launched on Amazon, Steam, and other digital outlets. The latest version of the fan-favorite release originally went live last August, and features cloud saving, in-game achievements, and a Character Booster, but it was only available on Square Enix’s eStore. Starting today, PC gamers can grab the same release from their preferred service for $11.99.
Square Enix has announced that players who pre-order Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will receive a day-one downloadable outfit pack that features Cloud Strife’s Soldier 1st Class uniform. The drop will also include Cloud’s Buster Sword, Soldier’s Band, and Final Fantasy VII’s Victory Fanfare theme and finishing animation. The outfit will bestow special abilities as well, but just what those abilities are weren’t revealed. A few preliminary screens were released to show how Lightning might look in the final uniform, and a few extra shots were added for good measure.
Square Enix is continuing their celebrations of Final Fantasy’s 25th Anniversary today with a nod to the 32-bit era via the ever-popular Final Fantasy VII. Starting today, role-players can download a new enhanced re-release for PC at Square Enix’s eStore for $11.99. Gamers who have a member account at the company’s site can download the game for $9.99 until September 12. The new version includes support for cloud saves and a character booster, and an in-game achievement system is also planned.
