An avalanche of King of Fighters XIV goodies hit today. First up, Atlus has announced that the game is slated to launch on August 23, and that players who pre-order or buy the game near its release date will receive the Day One edition. This version will come in a themed SteelBook case featuring Kyo Kusanagi, and as a gift for all early buyers, the Classic Kyo DLC costume will be free on PSN for the week following launch. Additionally, there are two new videos and over 20 new screenshots, plus a picture of the Day One edition, posted below. The trailers highlight the three-versus-three system, story, and one of the new characters, Shun’Ei.

Later today, Arc System Works will be releasing French Bread’s 2D fighter Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code for Windows PC. The fighter is slated to go live on Steam at 8 p.m. (CST). Over 30 characters take part in a story that’s set after the visual novel’s Tatari incident. Each brawler has access to one of three fighting styles—Crescent Moon, Half Moon, and Full Moon—as well as an individual storyline in Arcade Mode. Local and online multiplayer is also supported.

Street Fighter V to get Guile in future update, screens, trailer released

Nash will be joined by his comrade in arms, and fellow Street Fighter veteran, Guile in an upcoming update to Street Fighter V. As with previous roster reveals, a new trailer and handful of screenshots were released showing the new addition in action. Guile is bringing along his traditional move list along with a special hurricane sonic boom. Time to start saving that fight money.

Atlus bringing The King of Fighters XIV to PS4 in North America

Atlus is once again seeing a King of Fighters to store shelves. The upcoming, PS4-exclusive entry, The King of Fighters XIV, is scheduled to launch later this year, and Atlus will be handling publishing duties. The game will retain the series’ traditional three-versus-three setup but feature several enhancements, including streamlined controls with simplified inputs for newcomers, updated Combo and Max Mode mechanics, a training mode that will allow veterans to help new players, and a new Party Battle mode where two teams of three fight it out online. There will be 19 new characters for a total of 50 at release, all available in-game, and a design that will “bring hardcore fans and newcomers the most competitive, but accessible, game in KOF history.” The announcement also notes that the game will sport “vastly improved netcode for competitive level multiplayer.” Also, for those feeling burned by Street Fighter V, there will be a single-player story mode that follows after the events of KoF XIII.

Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- pre-order demo now available for PS4

Players who pre-order Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- on PSN for PS4 can now access a playable demo. The demo features Arcade Mode, Training Mode, and Versus mode in their entirety, plus all three new characters. Free downloadable content is also in the works and will be available from June 7 through June 21 for PS3 and PS4. Players will be able to download two new characters, Raven and Kum Haehyun, and the Eclipse Color pack. Additionally, the studio has also launched Aksys Academy to help newcomers learn the ropes. Arc System Works will be bringing Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code to Steam on April 19. The French Bread-developed 2D fighter features 31 characters from across the visual novel’s universe, local and online multiplayer, and a training mode. The game also features an Arcade Mode with a new storyline that takes place a year after the Tatari incident. Also announced is a 20% launch-week discount for early buyers. For its first week on the market, players will be able to grab the title for $24.99.

Street Fighter V update adds first DLC character, Alex

Street Fighter V’s first post-launch roster addition, Alex, is now downloadable. Returning from Street Fighter III, Alex is a hulking grappler that will set players back 100,000 in Fight Money. In addition, new story costumes have been added to the recently launched In-Game Shop that run 40,000 FM each. The in-game currency is earned as players go through the game. The real-world cash equivalent, Zenny, has yet to be implemented, so Alex will be available for a free trial period that will end once Zenny is implemented; at that point, players will need to purchase him (and any other DLC characters released by then) with Zenny or FM. An update earlier this week added several modes and features, including Demonstrations, Trials, Online Rematch for a 2/3 set, eight-person lobbies, and match spectating.

Today’s been a trailer-heavy day, and Bandai Namco is adding one more with a new video for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven. The latest footage from the upcoming CyberConnect2-developed fighter shines the spotlight on seven new playable characters. The brawlers are from the second chapter, Battle Tendency, of the manga: Joseph Joestar, Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli, Lisa Lisa, Rudol Von Stroheim, Kars, Esidisi, and Wammu. Several screenshots of the latest reveals were also released and posted below.

A new trailer has been released from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven. The footage is from the first chapter of the game and features four characters: Dio Brando, Jonathan Joestar, Robert E.O. Speedwagon, and Will A. Zeppeli. The two-on-two fighter will include characters from every chapter of the anime and manga as well as an original story supervised by manga creator Hirohiko Araki.

Street Fighter V launches in stores, online for PC and PS4

Seven years and four iterations later, Capcom has officially moved on from Street Fighter IV today with the release of Street Fighter V. (A moment of silence, please.) The cross-platform PC, PS4 fighter returns with “exciting and accessible battle mechanics,” new fighters, and the reappearance of a few Street Fighter Alpha veterans. The entry also introduces two forms of in-game currency to unlock new content, Fight Money and Zenny. The former is earned during play while the latter is purchased with real cash, but everything, including costumes and characters, will be unlockable through gameplay. The first content update is slated to launch next month, which will open the in-game story and add Street Fighter III’s Alex to the roster. A free story expansion is also in the works and set to go live this June.
