Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax hitting PS3, PS Vita on October 6

Sega has announced that they will be releasing their latest fighter, Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, on October 6. Designed after novels published by Dengeki Bunko, including Sword Art Online and Durarara!, the 2D crossover brawler will feature a variety of characters across the lines, including a few Sega characters, battling in Sega-themed environments. The North American version will launch as a special edition that comes bundled with a bonus soundtrack CD that features tracks from several Sega composers, including Jun Senoue, Kenichi Tokoi, and Teruhiko Nakagawa. The tracks aren’t from the game, however, but are inspired by various Sega properties, such as Nights into Dreams, Shinobi, and the Sonic Adventure series.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend out now for PS Vita

The PS Vita version of Chrono Phantasma Extend has launched online and in stores. This latest version features the 2.0 balance patch, an improved online lobby, and a host of new additions, including characters, stages, and story modes. A new Guard Gauge System has been also added, along with its associated Barrier Gauge and Guard Crush. Stylish Mode, a way for newcomers to learn the mechanics, has been expanded with four new features: Auto Guard, Combo Attacks, Special Abilities, and Distortion Drive. Additionally, online play has been updated with an improved online lobby that allows players to invite others into a customizable room, where they can fight or watch the ongoing match in Spectator mode.

Rare Replay now up for digital pre-order on, Xbox One dash

Microsoft has announced that retro gamers can now pre-order a copy of Rare Replay for Xbox One from or from the Xbox dashboard. The release also noted that those who have played some of the titles on their Xbox 360 can transfer their profile’s saved progress and achievements over to Xbox One. The previous progress will count towards unlocking their associated bonus rewards. Full details on all 30 titles are available below.

Street Fighter V upgrade, DLC plans announced, Necalli revealed

Capcom announced the latest addition to Street Fighter V during Evo 2015. Unlike the previous reveals, this one is new to the series: Necalli. A brawler that possesses “a wide variety of savage and close range attacks,” Necalli’s V-Skill engages a damaging ground pound, while his V-Trigger channels an energy through him that changes his appearance and alters his personality. Capcom also revealed their DLC plans for Street Fighter V. All post-launch gameplay content will be unlockable through gameplay or purchasable, whichever the player prefers. And in breaking with franchise tradition, all balance changes, system adjustments, and upgrades will be free—no more Ultra, Arcade, Hyper, or Championship Edition shenanigans. Ken makes his Street Fighter V debut at San Diego Comic-Con

Capcom took the opportunity at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con’s Street Fighter panel to reveal that famed shoto Ken Masters has joined the cast of Street Fighter V. Mortal Kombat X: Predator Bundle out now for Kombat Pack

The Predator Bundle for Mortal Kombat X is now live for Kombat Pack owners and will be available for everyone else on July 14. The $7.99 set adds the Predator as a playable character as well as three new movie-themed skins, including Carl Weathers Jax, Commando Johnny, and Infrared Scorpion. Portions of the set will be available separately, with Predator priced at $4.99 and the skins priced at $3.99 as part of the Predator Prey Pack. And as a thank-you gift from NetherRealm, a free Klassic Fatality Pack has also been added for download, which comes bundled with Mortal Kombat 1 fatalities for Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Sonya, and Sub-Zero, as well as the Kold War Scorpion Skin.

Street Fighter V to be playable at Six Flags throughout the country

Gamers itching to get their hands on Street Fighter V will be able to try their hand at the upcoming fighter early at Six Flags locations across the US. The first stop on the ‘Street Fighter V at Six Flags’ tour will be Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA, from July 2 to 7, with the second beginning shortly after, from July 4 to 7, in Arlington, TX. Attendees will also get a shot to win prizes in eight-person single-elimination tournaments that will be held on Saturday at Six Flags Magic Mountain and on Saturdays and Sundays at the other locations. BlazBlue is back with Chrono Phantasma Extend for PS3, PS4, and Xbox One. A handheld version for PS Vita is slated for release on July 28. Extend features the 2.0 balance patch, an improved online lobby, and new characters, stages, and story modes. The 28-character roster can now utilize an updated Guard Gauge System, with its Barrier Gauge indicating when to attack or block and the Guard Crush to follow once the Barrier Gauge is empty. Newcomers can learn the ropes by engaging Stylish Mode, which now has four new features, Auto Guard, Combo Attacks, Special Abilities, and Distortion Drive. Online play has also been updated with a modified online lobby that allows players to invite others into a customizable room, where they can battle or enter Spectator mode to check out the current match.

J-Stars Victory VS+ in stores for PS3, PS4, on PSN for PS Vita

Bandai Namco has announced the release of J-Stars Victory VS+. The Spike Chunsoft-developed brawler features 32 characters from across the Shonen Jump and V-Jump lines, including Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, Fist of the North Star, and Naruto. A Story mode, featuring levels from a variety of the included properties, is joined by a two-versus-two Online Battle mode and, exclusive to this version, a team-versus-team Arcade mode.

Street Fighter V adds Birdie and Cammy, PS4 beta to begin July 23

Capcom revealed two more additions to Street Fighter V’s roster: Birdie and Cammy. Cammy has been a staple of the series for several years now, but Birdie hasn’t been seen rushing around and headbutting since Street Fighter Alpha 3. The two join four previously announced fighters, Charlie Nash, Chun-Li, M. Bison, and Ryu. A new trailer and batch of screenshots were released showing the two in action. The beta was also dated, with PS4 pre-orders getting a chance to try the game online from July 23 to July 28.
