Sony Online Entertainment has announced that their annual fan festival, SOE Fan Faire, has been renamed SOE Live and that it will be taking place this October. The SOE-sponsored event will be held between October 18-21 at Bally’s in Las Vegas, and feature the company’s large roster of MMO titles: DC Universe Online, EverQuest, EverQuest II, Free Realms, Magic: The Gathering – Tactics, PlanetSide 2, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Attendees can look forward to developer discussion panels, game-themed events, access to beta programs, tournaments, and goodies to take home.
Some big news on the EverQuest II front today. The first, and most significant, bit is that EQII will follow DC Universe Online and go to a free-to-play model early next month. Sony also announced that a new expansion will launch early next month, titled Age of Discovery. The expansion is detailed below (for you front-page readers). EQII is also turning seven, and to celebrate, the folks at EverQuest2.com have launched a series of new features detailing the history of the franchise.
