Atlus is revisiting their past this fall with Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. The follow-up to the fantastic Etrian Odyssey IV is a remake of the first Etrian Odyssey, and will feature two modes that will offer both new and traditional play styles. An expanded story mode will delve deeper into the origins of the Yggdrasil Tree, with greater character interaction and cutscenes, while a classic mode will feature the mechanic improvements but retain the series’ traditional style. Both versions will feature the same updated mechanics (3D graphics, StreetPass support, etc.) introduced in EOIV.
It seems as though Ubisoft has had an ace up their sleeve for some time with Tom Clancy’s The Division. Announced during their E3 conference, the Massive Entertainment-developed title is an open-world action-RPG set in New York three weeks after a pandemic hit the city during Black Friday. Since the outbreak, social order has collapsed and The Division, a secret unit of self-supporting agents, has been activated and sent in by the President. The trailer shown during the show has been made available, and it’s looking very good, with a mixture of co-op player-versus-environment and player-versus-player gameplay.
EA has pulled the curtains back on Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming shooter, Titanfall. The studio, founded by Infinity Ward alumni, has been working on the title for nearly three years. The game is multiplayer-only but will feature the set piece battles traditionally found in single-player campaigns. As an Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation or Militia soldier, players will be able to battle it out as an agile, jetpack-sporting assault Pilot or as the driver of a Titan, a 24-foot-tall mech.
Microsoft’s E3 2013 conference focused on not only what’s in store for the upcoming Xbox One, but also what they have planned for the 360. The Xbox One was the star of the show, with titles from 343 Industries, Capcom, Crytek, Remedy, Respawn Entertainment, Turn 10 Studios, and Insomniac Games. Several of the system’s features were on display, including Game DVR, which allows gamers to record and upload in-game footage for others to download, SmartGlass interactivity for extra on their games as well as their friends’ activities, and social media integration.
EA and Dice have released some single- and multiplayer gameplay footage and screenshots from Battlefield 4, including the trailer revealed during Microsoft’s conference showcasing the single-player mission Angry Sea. During the level, players must escape from a sinking aircraft carrier by hijacking a nearby boat. Dice also revealed that Xbox One will receive exclusive DLC, Second Assault, a post-launch pack that will include four Battlefield 3 maps re-imagined using the new Frostbite 3 engine. The multiplayer video shows some best-of moments from a 64-player match on the Siege of Shanghai map that was show at EA’s preview press conference.
More E3 goodies from Square Enix today with a new trailer from Edios Montreal’s upcoming Thief reboot. Master thief Garrett will return next year in a new adventure for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, though the trailer, unfortunately, doesn’t show him in action. E3 attendees can learn more by checking out Square Enix’s booth (#1647) in South Hall.
Square Enix has released a new E3 gameplay trailer and five new screenshots from the recently announced Deus Ex: The Fall. The mobile- and tablet-only release is a follow-up to the novel Deus Ex: Icarus Effect. The story follows ex-SAS mercenary Ben Saxon in his attempts to topple a global conspiracy that threatens all augmented humans.
Bethesda is getting into the E3 spirit with a new trailer and some new screens from MachineGames’ upcoming Wolfenstein reboot, The New Order. The trailer features in-game footage as well as a glimpse at the alternate timeline that sees B.J. Blazkowicz facing off against a victories, entrenched Reich in 1960.
