Doom multiplayer beta opening to all on April 15, DLC plans detailed

id Software is opening up the Doom multiplayer beta to everyone beginning April 15. Through April 17, players will be able to jump into the beta without a code and try out two modes—Team Deathmatch and Warpath—on Heatwave and Infernal. Post-launch content was also announced, and will come in the form of updates for SnapMap and multiplayer. For SnapMap, the game’s map-making and sharing suite, there are plans to release new AI enhancements, features, modules, objects, and props. Multiplayer will receive free game modes as well as for-pay packs. The latter will add new maps, hack modules, playable demons, and weapons beginning this summer. Each drop will cost $14.99 each or $39.99 as part of the Season Pass.

Doom live-action trailer, closed multiplayer beta go live

Bethesda has released a new live-action trailer for Doom. With apologies to The Rock, the one minute of the lone marine battling demons is better than the entirety of the 2005 film. The video’s release coincides with the launch of the closed multiplayer beta. The beta is ongoing for all systems and runs through April 3. To get beta players up to speed on the mechanics, id has created a playlist of gameplay videos.

QuakeCon 2016 – Round 2 pre-registration opening later today

Bethesda HQ has sent out word notifying QuakeCon 2016 attendees that the second round of passes is opening today for pre-registration. The package will go live for order today at 7 p.m. (CST) at registration.quakecon.org. The ‘BYOC Select-a-Seat with QuakeCon done Quick’ is $140 and limited to 300 packages. It includes express lane past-pass registration for the BYOC, all events, panels, and presentations, select and reserved seating in the BYOC area, and a lanyard. General attendance remains free.

A new gameplay trailer has gone live for Doom. The latest footage is from the multiplayer component, which will be entering closed beta shortly. The closed beta is scheduled to run from March 31 to April 1 for all platforms. QuakeCon 2016 pre-registration, package details announced

Bethesda has announced pre-registration details for this year’s QuakeCon. QuakeCon 2016 will once again take place in Dallas, TX, with the event running from Thursday, August 4 to Sunday, August 7. As before, a number of BYOC packages will be purchasable through registration.quakecon.org. The packages will be opened in three stages this year, with the final being pre-registration for general attendees. Note that general attendance will once again be free. Swag packages, previously put together beforehand, will also be customized by attendees. This year’s official shirt design will also be up for vote at quakecon.org. Doom to be released in May, new trailer, collector’s edition reveled

Doom, Fallout, more on sale in GOG.com promo, Bio Menace free

GOG.com has launched a new sales promo for Bethesda’s catalog and added a new free game to boot. Several of Bethesda’s titles are up to 75% off, including the original Fallout titles, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom bundles, and the Quake series, while various Elder Scrolls titles are 66% off, such as Morrowind and Redguard. Two extras are also being tossed into the pot, with buyers receiving free copies of The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall with any purchase. And as a bonus for everyone, 3D Realms’ Bio Menace is now available for free. The promo, part of the Happy Holiday Sales, ends next Tuesday.

Bethesda has released the teaserist teaser possible with a new three-second clip from Doom 4 … well Doom, but we’ll go with Doom 4 for the time being. The video offers the slightest of glimpses at the game’s progress, but series fans won’t have to wait too much longer for more info, as the studio plans on a full reveal at this year’s E3.
