After eight years, Doom 3 returns to store shelves today as Doom 3 BFG Edition. The enhanced re-release features updated versions of the 2004 original and its Resurrection of Evil expansion, as well as a new eight-level chapter called The Lost Missions. Old and new content alike support 3D, improved rendering and lighting, a new checkpoint save system, and 5.1 surround sound. As an added bonus, the collection also includes classic versions of Doom and Doom II.

The trailer, The Lost Mission, shows off some of the new seven-level chapter of the same name. It,Doom 3, and the Resurrection of Evil expansion will all support 5.1 surround sound and 3D. The upcoming re-release of id Software’s 2004 first-person shooter Doom 3, the BFG Edition, will be hitting store shelves on October 16. The set will include updated versions of the original game and its Resurrection of Evil expansion, plus a new seven-level chapter called The Lost Missions. All Doom 3-related content will support trophies/achievements, 3D, and 5.1 surround sound. And as an added bonus, id is also tossing in both Doom and Doom II.
