The Evil Within: The Consequence wraps up Det. Kidman’s tale

Juli Kidman’s story comes to its end today with the release of The Evil Within’s second download pack, The Consequence. Set immediately after The Assignment, players will see detective Kidman through her two-part downloadable side story. As before, players will get to see what she was doing during the original game while separated from Sebastian, which will involve her encountering new enemies and uncovering more about the Mobius group.

The Blood Angels are joining the fight for Armageddon with the release of the Angels of Blood expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon. The Steel Legion’s battles against the Ork warlord Ghazghkull has ground to a halt, and the angels have been sent in to open a new front. Players will guide the Space Marines in a campaign against both the Orks and the remaining Hive cities for control of the resource-rich planet.

Bungie to livestream tour of Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves

Bungie will be showing off the next Destiny expansion, House of Wolves, tomorrow on Twitch. Beginning at 1 p.m. (CST) on the studio’s official Twitch channel, Bungie community manager Deej will host a gameplay tour with creative director Christopher Barrett and community member Gothalion. The session will cover all of the material being added, including the new vendors and social space, The Reef.

Star Wars Battlefront to launch for console, PC on November 17

Electronic Arts has released a new trailer announcing that Dice’s Star Wars Battlefront will be released on November 17. The game will feature solo, co-op (couch and online), and 40-player versus missions across Endor, Hoth, Sallust, and Tatooine. Players will be able to play as characters from the original trilogy, including Boba Fett and Darth Vader, as well as pilot speeder bikes, snow speeders, AT-ATs, Tie fighters, and the Millennium Falcon. The video runs a little over two minutes long and features a forest battle powered by the game’s engine, showcasing a handful of the different abilities, vehicles, and races.

A few free, as well as some for-pay, downloadable packs will be hitting Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. All of the downloads are Free Battles, skirmishes that don’t affect the in-game clock that ticks down during story events and battles. The two freebies are Beginner’s Brawl and Lost Demon Rescue. The former will be up at launch and allow new players to level easily and bank some macca, as it won’t have scaling difficulty, while the latter will go live on May 12 and feature a recruitable demon that will join the party if it’s saved from two approaching enemy hordes. The for-pay battles run $0.99 each and switch things up by offering different scenarios, such as chasing down demons toting tons of macca. Full details for all are available below.

Age of Wonders III: Eternal Lords, V1.5 update now available

Age of Wonders III is bulking up today with the release of the free V1.5 update as well as its second expansion pack, Eternal Lords. The latest add-on includes a new story that follows the struggles of Arvik, heir to the Kingdom of Frostling, who turns to necromancy to reclaim his power. He must choose to either fight alongside his fellow Frostlings or devote himself entirely to necromancy. The pack also adds a new class (Necromancers), two races (Frostlings and Tigran), three leader specializations, diplomacy options, cosmic events, and the Race Governance mechanic.

NetherRealm returns to their roots today with the release of Mortal Kombat X for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers will be able to snag a copy later this summer. The latest entry in the series features not only a lineage theme—Sonya and Johnny’s daughter Cassie as well as Jax’s daughter Jacqui join the roster—but also a faction element and expanded move lists. Faction Wars is a persistent mode that tracks online performance and assigns earned points to the various factions, and each week the winning faction’s members will be rewarded with unlocked items. Characters also have three different fighting styles, each with their own focus and moves. Single player has also been beefed up with Living Towers, timed challenges that update regularly, as well as the return of Test Your Might, Test Your Luck, and the Krypt with its numerous unlockables.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to get two add-ons, to be 10-20+ hours each

Despite being an estimated 200-plus hours, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting even bigger with the announcement of two downloadable expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski emphasized the size of the additions by referencing the pre-DLC era, when expansions were physical releases, packed to the brim: “We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we’d like to bring that back.” To that end, the studio aims that each “offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out there,” with Hearts of Stone estimated at over 10 hours long and Blood and Wine over 20 hours long.
