Devolver Digital has released Flying Wild Hog’s melee-infused first-person shooter Shadow Warrior 2 for PS4 and Xbox One. The game is available at a discounted price during the two-week launch period, $34.99, and comes with a digital copy of the first reimagined Shadow Warrior. The game features a campaign playable solo or in online co-op, hand-designed and procedurally generated worlds, and a combat system that mixes magic, melee, and firearms.

Retro-styled first-person shooter Strafe out now on Steam, PSN

Pixel Titans’ procedurally generated first-person shooter Strafe has been released for Mac, PC, and PS4. Published by Devolver Digital, the shooter, billed as “the much anticipated megahit video game from 1996,” features an arsenal of over 30 weapons, 20-plus enemy types, four zones, and compatibility with Oculus Rift. And pixelated gore. A lot of pixelated gore.

Strafe gets several special editions, including physical copies

Devolver Digital is set to release three different collector’s editions for Pixel Titans’ Strafe. The upcoming procedurally generated first-person shooter will be available from Special Reserve Games as the Throwback Edition, complete with pogs and floppy discs; the Vinyl Edition with a two-disc vinyl set from Laced Records; and the PS4 Collector’s Box, which comes with a region-free copy of the game for PS4. All pre-orders come with an exclusive weapon, the VV-1N.

Retro-style shooter Strafe gets a bloody launch date reveal

Shadow Warrior 2 gets free trial-based DLC, The Way of the Wang

Shadow Warrior 2 received a new free download pack today, The Way of the Wang. The seven-trial drop adds an area in the game’s hub town that allows access to trials that unlock new weapon gem slots, weapon upgrades, and crafting abilities. Those that are able to complete the final mission, Trial of the Ancient God, will receive a new weapon, the Fist of Gozu. Additionally, the game will receive three new Insane difficulty levels and five extra achievements. For those on the fence, it’s currently 25 percent off as part of a weekend-long promotion.

Shadow Warrior 2 Special Reserve Collector’s Edition detailed for PC

Devolver Digital will be releasing a limited Special Reserve Collector’s Edition of Flying Wild Hog’s Shadow Warrior 2. The recently released first-person shooter is getting the premium treatment in a fitting way, with customized randomly generated blood splatter for each copy. Only 5,000 numbered sets will be produced, which will bundle together all three games in the series (Shadow Warrior Classic Redux, Shadow Warrior 2013, and Shadow Warrior 2), stickers, soundtracks, and a 96-page artbook. It is available at Devolver Digital’s online store for $59.99, while current owners of the standard version can upgrade to it for $9.99 and owners of the Deluxe on Steam can get it for $19.99.

Devolver Digital has released the launch trailer for Flying Wild Hog’s Shadow Warrior 2. The first-person shooter is set to launch tomorrow for PC, while the console versions remain in development. Gory retro beat ’em up Mother Russia Bleeds launches for PC

Le Cartel’s side-scrolling brawler Mother Russia Bleeds is now available for PC. As a trapped street fighter, players must battle their way to freedom through the streets of an alternate USSR that is filled with corrupt police, criminals, and forced addicts. They can go at it alone or with up to four players in co-op. In addition to the campaign, co-op is also supported in Survival Mode. Shadow Warrior 2 up for pre-order, to launch on October 13 for PC

Shadow Warrior 2 will be lopping off limbs and blowing off heads next month for PC. Flying Wild Hog is set to deploy Lo Wang against the demon hordes just in time for Halloween, with the $39.99 special edition and $49.99 deluxe edition (art book, soundtrack, skins and weapons) hitting digital outlets on October 13. Now a mercenary, Wang will once again wield his swords, guns, and magic to rid the world of monsters, alone or with up to four players in online co-op. The sequel is described as being bigger than the 2013 original, with “an open, vertically scalable world” that hosts a procedurally generated loot system. Pax West attendees can try the game out this weekend at booth 2443. Everyone else can see it in action below by checking out the new trailer.

Enter the Gungeon getting Supply Drop update, to be at Pax West

Dodge Roll is prepping a new patch for Enter the Gungeon, the Supply Drop Update. The drop will add over a hundred rooms, along with new companions, bosses, enemy types, shrines, and weapons. Of particular note is the Bullet Gun, a bullet that shoots bullet-shooting guns. Another update is planned for later this year, and an expansion in early 2017. In the meantime, Pax West attendees can check out the new content at booth 2343.
