Mac gamers looking to test their survival skills against the undead hordes are getting their chance today with the release of Dead Island Game of the Year Edition. The $21.99 release includes the original game as well as a new weapon, The Ripper, and two add-ons, Bloodbath Arena and Ryder White. The Mac version also supports the Xbox 360 controller if Tattiebogle OS X drivers are installed.

Sacred 3 hitting console, PC on August 26, gameplay trailer released

Deep Silver has announced that their upcoming hack-and-slash RPG Sacred 3 will be launching on August 26 for 360, PC, and PS3. A new trailer also features some co-op action with a few of the available character classes. Free character and scenario DLC will be included as well, with the Malakhim class being added to the roster and the Underworld Story pitting players against their old Sacred 2 enemy the Black Seraphim.

Deep Silver to release Sacred 3 this summer for consoles, PC

Digital adventurers will be able to delve once again into the wilds of the Sacred universe this summer with the release of Sacred 3. The latest installment will feature the same action-RPG gameplay as its predecessors, a cast of unique fighters, who each have access to their own skill trees, and a new character, Malakhim. All versions, console and PC, will also feature drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer for two players offline and up to four online.

Wasteland 2 enters beta for backers, Steam Early Access tomorrow

inXile’s first Kickstarter-funded project, Wasteland 2, has entered beta. The post-apocalyptic role-playing game, sequel to 1988’s pioneering Wasteland, is now playable for campaign backers and will enter Steam Early Access tomorrow for everyone else. The sequel is set 15 years after the original with players taking control of a party of Desert Rangers who are out to protect the wastes. The beta includes four major areas, along with their side areas, plus the character-creation system, world map travel, and random encounters. Additional areas set to be added as development continues.

The final downloadable pack for Metro: Last Light, Chronicles Pack, has launched today for 360, PC, and PS3. The single-player pack includes three new missions that run parallel to Last Light’s story and feature characters that Artyom encountered along the way. Players will be able to see how Polis sniper Anna attempted to save Artyom from Reich forces, how Pavel broke free from the Bandit Lair under Venice, and how Khan and Ulman made it through the tunnels of Polyanka.

Deep Silver has announced that Metro: Last Light’s third DLC drop, Developer Pack, will be available on September 17 for 360, PC, and PS3. The pack will include a new solo mission, The Spider-Nest, which will require that players clear a catacomb of spiders using the lighter, torches, and the new Flamethrower. In addition, there will also be three new areas to utilize: a Shooting Range, where players can compete in marksman challenges with all gun and attachment combinations; an AI Arena, in which customizable squads of human soldiers and mutants face off in challenges; and a Metro Museum, where players can learn more about the characters and their mutant enemies.

Deep Silver announced that Tower Pack, the second of 4A Games’ planned four downloadable packs for Metro: Last Light, will launch on September 3. The 360, PC, and PS3 drop adds a new tower that houses a virtual combat simulator. Players who enter must battle their way up the booby-trapped tower against waves of increasingly difficult enemies.

4A Games is preparing to send Linux and Mac gamers into the mutant-infested world of post-apocalyptic Russia with Metro: Last Light. Publisher Deep Silver has announced that a Mac version is near completion, scheduled for release on September 10, and that a Linux version is currently on track for launch later this year. Both versions will support the same DLC as the console and Windows versions, as well as Steam Play, which means that owners of any Steam version will find the latest releases automatically added to their library. The Season Pass, the Faction Pack, and the Tower Pack will be available at launch for the Mac version, and the remaining two packs, Developer and Chronicles, will launch simultaneously with the other versions.

In the latest installment, players take on the role of President of the United States and lead the country in a war against alien invaders from their hometown of Steelport. Deep Silver is taking the Dead Island series down the free-to-play route with a new online-only title, Dead Island: Epidemic. Dubbed a ZOMBA (Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena), Epidemic will be a PC-only release featuring many of the elements the series is known for as three teams face off against one another. More about Epidemic, and what else is in store for the future of the series, will be revealed at gamescom 2013.
