Homefront: The Revolution released for console, PC, launch trailer up

The liberation of near-future Philadelphia begins today with the release of Dambusters Studios’ Homefront: The Revolution. Publisher Deep Silver also revealed some final details about the expansion pass and online co-op Resistance Mode. Adding to the estimated 30-plus-hour campaign is a co-op mode that allows up to four players to engage in guerrilla warfare as a squad across six Missions, with more planned for the rest of the year. The new mission set will be free, and will begin being rolled out in June. In addition, the pass is set to offer exclusive Resistance Mode bonuses, including a free crate drop each week and three character backgrounds, as well as three single-player campaign add-ons. The first two expansions, The Voice of Freedom and Aftermath, are set to be released this year, while the third and largest of the bunch, Beyond the Walls, will go live in 2017.

New trailer gives first look at Dead Island Retro Revenge gameplay

Deep Silver has released the first video of Dead Island Retro Revenge. The 16-bit-style beat ‘em up is a free pack-in with Dead Island Definitive Collection. The video is narrated by Max, the Jack Black-sounding protagonist who is on a quest to find his cat through the zombie-filled streets of California. He’s not only up against the undead but also corrupt soldiers and rowdy inmates. In addition to a variety of weapons, he’ll also have access to power-ups, super attacks, and combos.

Dead Island Definitive Collection gets gory in new trailer

A new, bloody trailer has gone live for Dead Island Definitive Collection. The sampling of carnage is taken from the definitive editions of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide, which will be included in the collection. The PS4 and Xbox One retail releases will also come with the new mini-game Dead Island Retro Revenge.

Mighty No. 9 goes gooooold, launching on June 21 for console, PC

comcept has sent along the long-awaited word that Mighty No. 9 has gone gold. The side-scrolling action-platformer will hit digital outlets and store shelves on June 21. Note that the portable versions for 3DS and PS Vita will be along at a later, unspecified date. For the occasion, creator Keiji Inafune has written a message to everyone that’s been chomping at the bit to get their hands on the game, which can be found below.

Dead Island Definitive Collection screenshots, PS4 pre-order live

Ten new screenshots have been released from Dead Island Definitive Collection. The upcoming enhanced re-release will bundle Dead Island Definitive Edition, Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition, and Dead Island Retro Revenge with numerous graphical improvements using Techland’s new engine. Some of the upgrades include enhanced texture quality, photorealistic lighting system, more realistic physically based shading, added HBAO and motion blur effects, and updated models. The interface is also being updated to be uniform across the included titles. The PS4 version of Dead Island Definitive Collection will support four-player co-op, PS Vita Remote Play, Share Play, streaming, and recording, and is now up for pre-order. Homefront: The Revolution intro, faux documentary released

Deep Silver has released the opening cinematic to Homefront: The Revolution. Dambusters Studios’ upcoming shooter once again finds the US on the decline, and the intro, America Has Fallen, offers a recap of events up to the current state of affairs in 2029. The new backstory follows an alternate history where Korea rose to power after the Korean War with the aid of the Apex Corporation. To flesh out this new world, the studio also released an 11-minute faux documentary about Apex titled Apex and the Technology of Control.

Homefront: The Revolution – Hearts and Minds 101 media released

Homefront: The Revolution’s populace and Merits system is in the limelight today with a new trailer and screenshots. Hearts and Minds 101 demonstrates how and why it’s important for players to get the residents of Philadelphia’s various zones on their side. A revolution without the people wouldn’t make much of a revolution—or at least a harder game. To ensure that the people embrace the cause, players will be able to perform actions that sway popular opinion to their side. Screenshots were released demonstrating the differences between when the people are for or against the occupiers. The Merits system was also detailed. This is the mechanic that unlocks new items in the co-op Resistance mode. Players can start earning Merits now at Homefront-Game.com by completing ‘missions’ to gain Red Rebel gear. To see the kit in-game, players must link their Homefront profile to their Live, PSN, or Steam account.

Homefront: The Revolution gets new guerilla warfare combat trailer

Deep Silver has released a new trailer for Homefront: The Revolution highlighting the role of guerilla combat. Titled Guerilla Warfare 101, the video covers ambushing patrols, modifying weapons, and utilizing the day-and-night cycle to get the drop on enemies. Modulars weapons will allow players to quickly customize their weapons, while a toolkit offers access to a variety of items, including IEDs, incendiary devices, and hacking equipment. All of the tools and weapons will be available in single player as well as online co-op.

Deadlight: Director’s Cut heading to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in June

Deep Silver has announced that they will be releasing Deadlight: Director’s Cut for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The zombie-heavy action-platformer is scheduled to launch on June 21 for $19.99, and for its PlayStation debut, developers Tequila Works and Abstraction Games are adding the new Survival Arena mode. Additional updates will include improved controls, extra animations, and support for 1080p. As introvert Randall Wayne, players must battle their way through a 1986 Seattle overrun by zombies in a quest to reunite with their family.

Homefront: The Revolution co-op mode trailer, details released

Deep Silver has detailed the four-player co-op mode in Homefront: The Revolution. The upcoming open-world first-person shooter’s Resistance Mode will allow players to form a Resistance Cell to battle the KPA in story-driven missions throughout Philadelphia. Players will level as they play, unlocking new skills, equipment, and weapon blueprints. A trailer was released to show the mode in action, while a closed beta is currently scheduled to run February 11-14 for Xbox One. Community members who’ve signed up on the official site will also get a chance to take part in stress tests, which are planned for January 29 and February 5 for Xbox One. Also announced is the Revolutionary Spirit pre-order pack, which will come with unique skins and access to select weapons for the campaign.
