Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Darksiders II
Death will be returning in a few weeks. Nordic Games has announced that Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition will launch worldwide on October 27. The included version of Darksiders II will be updated with support for 1080p, improved lighting and shadows, reworked character and environment graphics, and tuned game balancing and loot distribution. All downloadable content will also be included, which add new weapons, enemies, and more. Eight new comparison shots were also released, and more will be on display at 2 p.m. (CST) tomorrow during Gunfire Games’ streaming event at their official Twitch channel.
A handful of comparison screenshots were released from the upcoming Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition. The header image is a ‘before’ and ‘after’ shot spliced together, while the full screens are below. A note from Gunfire Games’ design director, John Pearl, has also been included, detailing the various graphical upgrades.
Nordic is bringing death back. Darksiders 2 will be returning for the new console generation as an updated bundle rerelease, Deathinitive Edition. In addition to upgraded graphics, the set will include all downloadable content: Argul’s Tomb, Fletcher’s Crow Hammer, Maker Armor Set, The Abyssal Forge, The Demon Lord Belial, Death Rides, Angel of Death, Deadly Despair, Mace Maximus, Shadow of Death, Mortis Pack, Rusanov’s Axe, and Van Der Schmash Hammer. The added content is said to push playtime to over 30 hours. The port is being handled by Gunfire Games, “where nearly all staffers have already been working at Vigil Games and on Darksiders in the past.” For those wanting a new adventure, fear not, Nordic has a new Darksiders in the works.
GOG.com has added five titles to their library from Deep Silver and Nordic Games. Each title is on sale as part of a week-long discount to celebrate the deal, with DarkSiders 1 and 2 available for up to 75% off ($7.99, $11.99, respectively), Metro: Last Light Redux for 50% off ($12.49), Saints Row 2 for 60% off ($3.99), and Saints Row: The Third for 66% off ($4.99). All releases are available DRM-free, and as with other older titles, Saints Row 2 has been modified to work without issue on modern rigs.
THQ has confirmed that Vigil Games’ action-adventure title Darksiders II will be available at launch for Wii U. To sweeten the deal, the game will have on-disc additional content, including the DLC expansion Argul’s Tomb and all of the pre-order bonuses from the other versions. The bonus content is estimated to add around five hours of gameplay. The new GamePad will be used to display the map and objectives, as well as access the inventory, while the gyro feature will allow players to evade, navigate, and manipulate objects.
THQ continues to roll out the pre-order bonuses for Darksiders II with new digital extras for the Limited Edition. Gamers who place an order for the LE through shopTHQ will receive two DLC packs, the stat-charged Maker’s Armor and Scythe set, and free shipping.
A Summer of Death promotion was announced to kick off the upcoming launch of Darksiders II. The first item up for grabs is a t-shirt, on offer to gamers who pre-order a copy for 360, PC, or PS3 and go through the process to redeem on the game’s Facebook page. Additional items will be named in the upcoming weeks but are said to include digital content and prizes for community members.
Darksiders II might be months away, but that isn’t stopping Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop from trying to entice a few bucks out of your wallet. To get the pre-order bucks flowing, each is offering a unique in-game incentive, ranging from additional missions to celestial-themed panoply.
