Microsoft Game Studios has two new trailers for Crytek’s upcoming action title Ryse: Son of Rome. One of the videos gives a two-minute overview of the main character, Roman legionnaire Marius Titus, who is on a quest of revenge against the barbarians who killed his family. The other details the story behind a special weapon gifted to Titus by his father, the Damocles dagger, which is said to come from a centurion who returned from Hades to take vengeance on the corrupt generals that left him to die. Damocles’ tale is especially eye-catching.

Crytek is going back to the jungle next week with the latest DLC pack for Crysis 3, The Lost Island. The multiplayer-focused drop will include four new maps set on a small island in the Philippines, new weapons, and two new modes, Frenzy and Possession.
The latest entry in Crytek’s Crysis series is now available for 360, PC, and PS3. Crysis 3 brings back the Nanosuit, and the many powers its bestows, as well as protagonist Prophet. After donning the suit and moniker in Crysis 2, he must now make his way through a domed New York that is overrun by vegetation and patrolled by Cell operatives. Seven distinct areas, known as the 7 Wonders, must be explored as he continues his struggle to save mankind.

Electronic Arts has announced that Crysis 3 will begin a two-week open multiplayer beta on January 29. Available for 360, PC, and PS3, the beta will feature two maps, Airport and Museum, and two team-based modes, including the new Hunter mode. Hunter will pit players against one another as two hunters battle a squad of Cell troopers (10 on console and 14 on PC). The hunters only have access to their powers and Predator bows, though defeated Cell troopers will fill their ranks as respawned hunters. The beta will also sport the new in-game social media feed dubbed New York Feed. The feed will not only broadcast the player’s accomplishments to other readers but also offer dynamic challenges.
EA has released a batch of new screenshots from Crytek’s upcoming first-person shooter, Crysis 3. The shots reveal more of the Fields, and the dangers that lurk therein, below the NYC Liberty Dome that must be traversed in order for Prophet and Sykes to reach the rebel forces. A new trailer for Hell of a Town, a video set to debut on December 12 as part Albert Hughes’ series The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3, has also been released.

Crysis is set to return next year with Crysis 3. EA has announced that Crytek is currently at work developing the third entry, which will have players taking on the role of Prophet as he battles new enemies in the wilds of the York City Liberty Dome. After being enclosed in a Nanodome by Cell Corporation, New York City’s seven districts have become overrun with vegetation as rivers feed rainforests and swamps surround ruins. Prophet will have access to a new composite bow, new alien technology, and an enhanced Nanosuit to clear the zones of enemies both human and alien.
