The Total War series is looking to take on the iOS market today with the release of Total War Battles: Shogun on the Apple App Store. A reimagining of Shogun 2: Total War, the portable version is less grandiose but more befitting touchscreen handhelds. As a young samurai, players will go on a 15-hour quest to avenge the death of their father that will see them constructing bases, training armies, and tackling 27 missions and 18 side quests.

Total War: Shogun 2’s new standalone expansion, Fall of the Samurai, is now available for download. Set 400 years after the original game during the Boshin War of 1863, The Fall of the Samurai pits the Imperial armies against those of the last Shogunate. In the midst of this epic struggle come the Americans, British, and French, who play a role in the war as they side with and against the six new playable clans.

It seems as though Creative Assembly’s been busy lately. Just after the recent announcement of the upcoming Fall of the Samurai standalone expansion, Sega has sent word that there are two new DLC packs available for download today. Now, all players will be able to play as the formerly Limited Edition-exclusive Hattori clan, as well as dismember and decapitate their foes’ armies with the Blood Pack DLC.

Sega will be seeing the samurai off with an upcoming standalone expansion for Total War: Shogun 2, Fall of the Samurai. Set to launch next March, the DLC will see six new playable clans fighting alongside the Emperor or Shogun as Japan faces a turning point with the arrival of America, Britain, and France. A larger and “improved” campaign map will host new island provinces, while new building and tech trees will introduce railways and naval bombardments to the series plus 39 new units, 10 new ship types, and three new agent types.

The Ikko Ikki Clan DLC pack is now available on Steam for Total War: Shogun 2. The $4.99 pack is fairly robust, with the meat being access to the Buddhist rebel faction for both single and multiplayer campaign modes as well in multiplayer battles. The faction includes the Ikko Ikki monk agent, eight unit variants for the Ikko Ikki, the Warrior Nun unit for other factions, 10 new retainers, and unique Ikko Ikki General skill tree. There is also a new avatar armour set for Avatar Conquest and a new historical battle.

Instead of the series’ traditional approach of featuring one of the standalone battles, Shogun 2’s demo will allow players to go through the Chosokabe tutorial campaign, which includes “different types of land warfare” and the battle of Sekigahara.
