PlayStation Experience 2014 Highlights – Suikoden II, Street Fighter V

Some big news came out today from Sony’s PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas. The biggest of which is arguably the reveal and announcement of console exclusivity of Street Fighter V. Sony and Capcom have partnered up to release it for PS4, and to make it cross-platform compatible with PC. To keep gamers occupied until then, Capcom is also releasing Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4. Another surprise came out of Konami, who announced that the highly acclaimed Suikoden I and II will be available on PSN for PS3 and PS Vita next week, on December 9. Sega wasn’t to be outdone, however, with the reveal that Yakuza 5 will be a downloadable release for PS3 in 2015, nor Atlus, who gave Persona fans more to look forward to in 2015 the news that Persona 5 will be available for PS3 and PS4.

Gran Turismo Awards 2014 to be at SEMA, sign-up forms now up

The Gran Turismo Awards will be returning to this year’s SEMA Show. Five attendees at the automotive trade event will have a chance to have their rides face off for the grand prize of being selected for inclusion as a playable car in an upcoming Gran Turismo by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi. The winners will be announced on November 5 at Drai’s Nightclub inside the Cromwell Hotel in Las Vegas. Details on each category and their respective judges are available below. Dead Island 2 gamescom demo footage, screenshots released

Deep Silver has released a new gameplay trailer and new screens from Yager’s Dead Island 2. Picking up after Dead Island and the upcoming Escape Dead Island, players will find themselves trying to survive in Los Angeles while its under quarantine by the military. Up to eight players can fight, cooperate, or ignore one another as they make their way through the undead hordes. The new media is being released in anticipation of this year’s gamescom in Germany, where attendees will be able to get some hands-on time at Deep Silver’s booth in Hall 9.1, B11/C10.

Aksys, Arc add $30,000 to BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Evo 2014 pot

Developer Arc System Works and publisher Aksys Games have decided to up the ante for Evo 2014 with $30,000 for the BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma pot. The top U.S. player at the tournament will also be flown with a friend to Japan on Aksys’ dime so that both can compete in Arc Revolution Cup 2014 on August 30. Series creator Toshimichi Mori and Rachel Alucard’s voice actress Kana Ueda will also be on hand at Aksys’ booth to sign free posters, as will stations to practice Chrono Phantasma, try a playable demo of Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, and check out BlazBlue Battle Cards and Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!!!!!.

This first round, BYOC Select-a-Seat with QuakeCon done Quick, is $175 and limited to 250 packages. Some of the first set’s perks include a guaranteed seat of the attendee’s choice in the BYOC area, limited reserve access for all panels and events, and a limited edition signed and numbered print.

The first round of pre-registration for QuakeCon 2014 will begin on March 5. This year, the premium pre-registration stage will take place over four stages with four different packages. Details for all four rounds, including pricing ($50 to $175) and bonuses, are available below. The big event will once again take place in Dallas, TX, from July 17-July 20, and remains free for those that want to arrive day of and don’t mind waiting in line. However, per-registering is required for a guaranteed spot in the Bring Your Own Computer area this year.

Beginning this Friday, fans of all things Craft (and Diablo) will be able to celebrate their fandom during the annual two-day celebration. This year’s festivities, once again held at the Anaheim Convention Center, will feature numerous panels, including one with director Duncan Jones about the upcoming Warcraft movie, a concert by Blink-182, community cosplay, and both the StarCraft II World Championship Series Global Final and World of Warcraft Arena Invitational.

BlizzCon 2013 set for November, tickets to go on sale April 24, 27

Blizzard’s two-day festival of all things Craft (and Diablo) is set to once again take over the Anaheim Convention Center this November. For those looking to attend, Blizzard has announced that tickets for BlizzCon will be sold in two batches, on April 24 at 7 p.m. and 27 at 10 a.m. (Pacific). There will also be a limited number of tickets to a dinner prior to the show in support of the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, which will go on sale May 1 at 7 p.m.
