Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Certain Affinity
Microsoft has announced that Lockout will join Halo 2 multiplayer maps Ascension, Coagulation, Sanctuary, and Zanzibar in being reimagined for the upcoming compilation Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Max Hoberman, president of Certain Affinity and one of Halo 2’s lead designers, described some of the changes to the three-level map: “most prominent among these are a bit of cover added to the ‘Elbow,’ the long walkway connecting the grav lift to the sniper tower, and a dynamic element that should help counter an entrenched group of enemies.” Lockout will also be one of the levels playable at the Xbox Booth (#412, #422, #432) at PAX Prime. 343 Industries will be hosting a number of events at PAX, including a signing, a panel, and a weekend-long tournament, details of which can be found below. Gamers not attending can check out a livestream of the events at the Halo Twitch channel.
New details have been announced about the second of three upcoming map packs for Halo 4, the Majestic Map Pack. The Certain Affinity- and 343 Industries-developed entry in the War Games Map Pack series will launch next Monday, February 25, with three small- to medium-sized maps, detailed below, as well as two Majestic DLC playlists and a new free-for-all mode, Infinity Rumble.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary’s release is nearly here. Starting at midnight, a few lucky fans will be able to meet some of the crew from 343 Industries and Certain Affinity when they grab their copy at one of the launch parties. Fans who can’t make it to one of Microsoft’s events (listed below) can still contribute to the festivities by heading to HaloLivingMonument.com and uploading pictures of their favorite “Halo” moments, which will then be used to form a 3D mosaic image of the Chief. Submissions can also be rated and shared on Facebook and Twitter. Fans who contribute will find their additions included in a live-action tribute video that will serve as a nod to the series’ devoted.
Microsoft is celebrating Halo: Combat Evolved’s ten-year anniversary with its very own decennalia. On November 15, over a dozen retailers will open their doors at midnight for the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. The updated re-release, which will include maps from across the series, new features (Live co-op, new challenges, and a Firefight map), and Kinect support, will be available for $39.99 at midnight, but the festivities will kick off at 10 p.m. on November 13. Thirteen Microsoft Stores, listed below, will host friendly tournaments with free pizza and Monster Energy drinks, giveaways for the first 100 people in line as well as the first 100 to snag a copy, and a contest to win a limited Halo: Anniversary 360 console skin.
