Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
It’s time for Alucard to show Gabriel how it’s done today with the launch of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 – Revelations. The prequel storyline follows Alucard up to his reunion with his father, the demon lord Dracula. The new download pack adds new areas to explore within the world of Lords of Shadow 2, as well as two new powers (Glaciem and Igneas), power boosts through drinking blood, and the ability to transform into a werewolf.
Alucard struts his vampiric stuff today in some new media from his upcoming Lords of Shadow 2 story DLC, Revelations. The new storyline precedes the events of Lords of Shadow 2, and is said to dig deeper into the bond between Alucard and his father, Gabriel. Players will be able to access new locations, use two new powers, transform into a wolf, and enhance Alucard’s abilities by drinking the blood of defeated enemies.
Virtual Draculas can turn the tide on themselves with a new pre-order bonus for the digital version of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 for PS3, a copy of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD via PSN. To further sweeten the pot, Konami is also tossing in a Lords of Shadow 2 Dynamic Theme. Mirror of Fate, once a 3DS exclusive, is a prequel to the original Lords of Shadow that follows the quests of Trevor and Simon Belot against Dracula as well as introduces a new character who makes their return in the sequel, the Toymaker.
Konami is giving gamers a sample of what’s in store when Lords of Shadow 2 launches with a new playable demo. The trial serves as a prelude to the full game and is now live for 360, PC, and PS3. The demo features two fights, one against the Brotherhood of Light as they attempt to storm Dracula’s castle and the other against a massive titan. Players will have access to two weapons throughout the demo to accomplish their tasks, the Void Sword and the Chaos Claws.
A bevy of new screenshots and concept art has been released from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 showcasing Dracula himself. Players will have to guide him through an unknown world after he awakes in modern times without his powers. After making a deal with Death, Dracula sets out to defeat Satan and once again become mortal. The new material shows some of the environments, monsters, and platforming puzzles Dracula must best as he makes his way to the final battle with the prince of darkness.
Konami has announced that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be making its way to PC next year, and that it is set to ship alongside its console counterparts. As with the 360 and PS3 versions, Lords of Shadow 2 is being developed by the studio behind the first Lords of Shadow, Mercury Steam. The sequel will be powered by the new Mercury Engine 2 and feature the Belmonts facing off against a resurgent Dracula.
