Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate announced for 3DS, Freedom Unite for iOS

Capcom has announced two new entries in the Monster Hunter franchise: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for 3DS and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS. Ultimate continues the series’ traditional formula of hunting, gathering, and crafting as a hunter traveling the world in a caravan. A first for the series, handheld gamers will be able to link up both locally and through the Internet by using the Nintendo Network. Other additions include an expanded moveset for greater vertical and lateral range, two new weapon classes, new monsters and locations, refined climbing motions, and the ability to ride monsters.

Dead Rising 3, formerly an Xbox One exclusive, will be making its way to PC later this summer. Capcom has announced that it will be a download-only release available through Steam. This version will feature “high PC resolutions with fully optimized visuals for the wide screen, upgraded textures on characters, backgrounds and in-game objects.” As a Steam title, the game will support Steam Achievements, Clouds, and Trading Cards as well as support for global leaderboards and controllers.

Ultra Street Fighter IV launches as digital upgrade on Live, PSN

Capcom has announced that Ultra Street Fighter IV has launched for 360 and PS3. The downloadable upgrade is available for $14.99 for Super Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Ultra adds Decapre, Elena, Hugo, Poison, and Rolento to the roster, six new levels, Training Mode Fight Request to practice between fights, Offline Battle Log for saving offline battle replays, Edition Select to choose which version of a character is preferred, Double Ultra option for access to weaker versions of both ultras, Red Focus attacks, and more. Physical retail releases will launch on August 5 for both consoles.

Ultra Street Fighter IV release dates confirmed, promo revealed

Capcom has confirmed that Ultra Street Fighter IV will be initially available as a download upgrade for SFIV on June 3 for PS3 and on June 4 for 360. The release date for the physical version was also confirmed, with both versions hitting store shelves on August 5. The PC version will go live in both formats, as a full download and an upgrade, on August 8 via Steam. As a pre-order bonus, gamers who put down on any version will receive the 2014 Challengers Costume Pack, which will include alternate costumes for all five of the new characters: Gladiator Decapre, Jungle Elena, Medieval Hugo, Pirate Poison, and Wizard Rolento. The promo begins today.

HD re-release of Resident Evil 4 now on Steam

Leon Kennedy is a busy man. As if his current workload isn’t enough, he has to go back in time today to relive one of his past adventures with a new HD re-release of Resident Evil 4 for PC. Now available on Steam, the $19.99 download features the Separate Ways epilogue, support for Steam achievements, cloud saving, trading cards, and controllers, and a host graphical upgrades, including sharpened text, enhanced textures, and a bump to 60 frames per second.

The new plasma-scarf-sporting Hiryu is hitting the streets of Kazakh City today with the release of Strider. The Double Helix-developed entry continues the series’ style of fast-paced, side-scrolling combat, as Hiryu bounces and dashes around obstacles and slices his way through enemies. In addition to the story, players will also be able to tackle Beacon Run, a speed-run-style mode, and the wave-based Survival Mode.

Strider to launch next week for current and next-gen consoles, PC

Strider Hiryu will once again set out against the forces of evil next week when the Double Helix-developed Strider launches on Live, PSN, and Steam. The PS3 and PS4 versions will be first out of the gate on February 18, with the PC, 360, and Xbox One versions will follow the day after. Also announced is the inclusion of two new Challenge Modes to accompany Story Mode, the speed-run-style race Beacon Run and the wave-based trial Survival Mode. A global online leaderboard will track player stats across all modes.

Capcom releasing Resident Evil 4 for PC next month, pre-order up

A new high-definition version of Resident Evil 4 will be available for PC next month, according to Capcom. Scheduled for release on February 28, North American gamers will be able to download the re-release off Steam. This updated version will feature “HD running at a smooth 60 frames per second for the first time,” plus sharpened text, improved textures, wide-screen support, and all previously released content, including the Separate Ways epilogue, and game controller support. A pre-order campaign has launched on Steam as well, with early buyers receiving two digital extras: a 60-track soundtrack and an art book.

Dead Rising 3: Operation Broken Eagle DLC delayed until January

Operation Broken Eagle, Dead Rising 3’s first downloadable episode, has been delayed until 2014. Originally scheduled to launch on December 24, players will now have to wait until January 21 to save the President from the undead hordes. According to the release, the decision to push back the launch date was “to ensure we provide the best possible experience for players” by “putting a few additional weeks of polish and testing into the episode before it’s released.”
