Street Fighter V launches in stores, online for PC and PS4

Seven years and four iterations later, Capcom has officially moved on from Street Fighter IV today with the release of Street Fighter V. (A moment of silence, please.) The cross-platform PC, PS4 fighter returns with “exciting and accessible battle mechanics,” new fighters, and the reappearance of a few Street Fighter Alpha veterans. The entry also introduces two forms of in-game currency to unlock new content, Fight Money and Zenny. The former is earned during play while the latter is purchased with real cash, but everything, including costumes and characters, will be unlockable through gameplay. The first content update is slated to launch next month, which will open the in-game story and add Street Fighter III’s Alex to the roster. A free story expansion is also in the works and set to go live this June.

Bandai Namco has released the launch trailer for Project X Zone 2. The 3DS-exclusive tactical role-playing game features characters from numerous titles across properties from Bandai Namco, Capcom, and Sega. Characters from .hack//, Megaman X, Strider, Tekken, Tales of Vesperia, Virtua Fighter, and more all make an appearance, teaming up to once again save the world.

Umbrella Corps launching his May, new screens, trailer released

Umbrella Corps, the upcoming Resident Evil-themed arena shooter, will be hitting digital outlets this May for PC and PS4. In addition to a multiplayer component, there will also be a single-player campaign, The Experiment. Solo play will consist of over 20 multi-objective missions, tasking the player with battling through a “coliseum style horde-like mode” without the Zombie Jammer device found in multiplayer. Arenas will be based after areas found in Resident Evil 4 and 5, including the remote village from the fourth, and host numerous familiar enemies, such as the Ganados and Cerberus dogs. A new trailer was released alongside a handful of screenshots, all of which have been posted below.

Street Fighter V to get free cinematic story expansion this June

Capcom revealed new story details for Street Fighter V. Set between Street Fighters III and IV, the fifth entry will feature character stories that set the stage for a free cinematic story expansion that is scheduled to be released in June. Their stories will feature art by Bengus, who has a lengthy history with Capcom, having worked on such titles as Street Fighter Alpha, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and the original Street Fighter. A new trailer and screenshots were released for the upcoming expansion, check them out below. Also for those who have been playing online, a bonus, final beta test has been scheduled for January 30-31.

Resident Evil 0 now available online, in stores for PS4, Xbox One

Capcom continues the Resident Evil remaster trend today with the release of Resident Evil 0. Available digitally and in stores, the prequel takes place back in 1998, before Chris and Jill set foot in Raccoon City. As STARS medic Rebecca Chambers and fugitive ex-Marine Billy Coen, players will have to uncover the truth behind a nearby outbreak by swapping between the two to solve puzzles, look for clues, and of course, defeat mutants aplenty. This version features updated graphics and audio, a new optional control scheme, and the post-game Wesker Mode, which features a beefed-up Wesker and Rebecca in an alternate uniform.

Capcom’s open-world action role-playing game Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen has launched for PC. The expanded re-release of Dragon’s Dogma, released in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360, has been updated with Steam support, including Achievements and additional controller options, updated visuals, and support for 4K. Dark Arisen includes all of the content from the original game as well as a new area, Bitterblack Isle, that adds new enemies, quests, weapons, and armor.

Street Fighter V adds F.A.N.G. to roster, 2016 DLC characters revealed

Capcom revealed the final character in Street Fighter V’s launch roster during PlayStation Experience. The sixteenth character is F.A.N.G., a strange fighter who doubles as a mad scientist of sorts and also fancies himself the second in command of Shadaloo. Check him out in action below. The studio also announced the six fighters that will be added throughout 2016: Alex, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Juri and Urien. They can be purchased with cash for immediate play or unlocked for free through gameplay. Details on how real money transfers to digital money is also broken down below, but for those who want to go fast route, a Season Pass will be available for $29.99. The pass will offer release access to all characters plus a premium costume for each and an exclusive PS4 theme.

Mega Man Legacy Collection physical editions detailed, dated

Capcom has released new info about the physical edition of Mega Man Legacy Collection. Scheduled to launch on February 23, the 3DS version will be available as a $29.99 standard version and a $49.99 collector’s edition, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions will run $29.99. The handheld version will feature over 100 new art and history pieces in the Museum; also, owners of the original Mega Man amiibo will be able to unlock exclusive remix challenges. On the subject of amiibos, the collector’s edition will include not only the standard version’s two 3DS themes, 18-song compilation soundtrack, and 4 stickers, but also 6 post cards and an exclusive gold-colored Mega Man amiibo. PS4 and Xbox One owners will also receive the compilation soundtrack and stickers, plus a Robot Master cheat sheet.

Dhalsim joins Street Fighter V, release date, DLC plans revealed

Capcom announced at Paris Games Week that Street Fighter veteran Dhalsim is the latest addition to Street Fighter V’s roster. A now-bearded Dhalsim is returning with Yoga Float as his V-Skill and Yoga Burner as his V-Trigger. Check out his trailer and screenshots below. It was also revealed that the game will be available on February 16. Additionally, the studio plans on releasing six new characters throughout 2016, along with balance updates, challenges, costumes, and gameplay content. All updates and balance changes will be free, while all gameplay-related material will be obtainable with real money, represented by an in-game currency called Zenny, or free via an earnable in-game currency called Fight Money. Fight Money will be acquired during play through the completion of daily goals and leveling up of characters.
