Monster Hunter Generations received the first of several free monthly download drops today. Of particular note are the two included Felyne skins, one based on Amaterasu from Okami and the other on Link from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Both can be equipped on support companions controlled by the AI or directly by the player in Prowler mode. Additionally, the freebie includes 10 quests as well as armor and weapon sets for Felynes and hunters.

Vikings – Wolves of Midgard gets new teaser, pre-order discount

Kalypso has released a new trailer for their upcoming action role-playing game Vikings – Wolves of Midgard. The footage highlights the combat system, including hand-to-hand melee and magic, along with a few of the locations and some of the enemies. Players will need to protect and rebuild their village from a variety of beasts as a warrior or shieldmaiden, solo or with a friend in online co-op. Balheim, Midgard, and Niflheim will open for exploration, while the gods can be swayed by blood sacrifices. Kalypso has also kicked off a pre-order promo on Steam offering a 15% discount as well as an exclusive customization pack, a digital art book, and a digital soundtrack.

Dead Rising 4 gameplay footage released from Comic-Con

More out of Comic-Con, and this time it’s some new gameplay from Dead Rising 4. After a brief series recap, members of the development team offer a quick overview with footage featuring plenty of selfies, weird weapons, and combo attacks. The footage was revealed alongside a hands-on demo for PC and Xbox One and a panel featuring several members of the team. No word if the panel will be posted.

Monster Hunter Generations now available for 3DS

Monster Hunter Generations has launched digitally and physically for 3DS. The latest entry in the long-running series tasks players with taking down the Fated Four as they craft new gear with resources harvested from lesser monsters. Players can tackle the quest solo or with up to three friends. The game is compatible with all Nintendo 3DS systems, and a themed, game-less XL is also available, the Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter Generations Edition. To see players off on their adventure properly, a free downloadable drop, the Starter Pack, has gone live to give them a leg up with extra potions, traps, and other goodies. More downloads are in the works, with free quests set to go live the first Friday of every month through the rest of the year. These will also include costumes based on other series, such as Fire Emblem, Okami, and The Legend of Zelda.

Resident Evil 7 is off to a strong start. According to Capcom, the teaser demo, Beginning Hour, has hit a milestone as “the most downloaded single-player demo on PS4” after seven days online. Even more impressive is that access is limited due to being restricted to PS Plus subscribers, but even then, it’s had over 2 million downloads globally.

Balrog, Ibuki, and Story Mode launching tomorrow for Street Fighter V

Capcom has detailed tomorrow’s big update for Street Fighter V. The patch will add the new five-act cinematic story mode, A Shadow Falls, and two new characters, returning brawlers Balrog and Ibuki. The former will be free for everyone, while the latter will require purchase with earned Fight Money or cash. A Shadow Falls takes place between Street Fighter IV and III, with the 16 core characters battling it out as a World Warrior or a member of Shadaloo. Six released and unreleased post-launch downloadable characters are also going to take part. In addition to Balrog and Ibuki, both detailed below, the update will feature their stages, Las Vegas and Karin’s Kanzuki Family Private Beach. General tweaks include “faster and smarter matching” for multiplayer and Currency Shop options to use real money through PS Store and Steam.

Resident Evil arena shooter Umbrella Corps launches for PC, PS4

Capcom’s Resident Evil-themed third-person shooter Umbrella Corps has launched for PC and PS4. The download-only title focuses on bursts of fast-paced action with quick matches set in levels from throughout the series, including Raccoon City, RPD Police Station, and the Village from RE4. The 29.99 main game is supplemented by a $14.99 Upgrade Pack that includes a set of skins (Leon, Chris, Wesker), weapons, emotes, custom colors, and patches. The $39.99 Deluxe Edition bundles the game with the pack. Capcom plans on supporting the game with free post-launch content, which will include maps (the Mansion from RE1, Lanshiang from RE6), and a free-for-all mode called 4 Survivors.

Nintendo’s E3 Treehouse broadcast revealed more about Monster Hunter Generations. The stream covered new info on the mechanics and a live gameplay demo of the upcoming crafting-heavy action role-playing game. Also announced was a general playable demo that will feature three monsters, with difficulty levels for everyone from newcomers to veterans, online and local multiplayer for up to four players, and new beasts. The demo will be available on eShop on June 30, though select players will receive a code allowing for early access today, while others can purchase early access via Humble Bundle’s E3 2016 Digital Ticket. Capcom has debuted Phoenix Wright’s latest case, Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice, at E3 in a new playable demo. Attendees can try the game for themselves at Capcom’s booth (South Hall, #2023). For everyone else, a new batch of screenshots has been released from the trial of the, er, trial. Capcom-Unity will be livestreaming the game today at 4:00 p.m. (CST) and tomorrow at 1 p.m. (CST) with members of the development team at their Twitch channel.

Monster Hunter Generations will be available online and in stores on July 15. In addition to the game, a new themed system will also be landing on store shelves, the New Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter Generations Edition. The system features a design based on the Fated Four, a group of powerful new monsters. Note that the game is not included with the system.
