Bandai Namco has announced the release of J-Stars Victory VS+. The Spike Chunsoft-developed brawler features 32 characters from across the Shonen Jump and V-Jump lines, including Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, Fist of the North Star, and Naruto. A Story mode, featuring levels from a variety of the included properties, is joined by a two-versus-two Online Battle mode and, exclusive to this version, a team-versus-team Arcade mode.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below will be released on October 13 as a Day One Edition and a Slime Collector’s Edition. The Day One Edition will come bundled with a code for downloadable equipment, and the Slime Collector’s Edition will add to the Day One’s downloadables a slime plushie, slime keychain, slime lanyard, and even more downloadable content, including bonus quest items and Slime-themed goodies. A full list is available below. The Day One Edition is the standard retail price of $59.99, while the Slime Collector’s Edition is a Square Enix Online Store exclusive for $99.99. Sega expands 3D Classics Series 2 with Gunstar Heroes, more

Starting this July, Sega will be adding three more titles to their 3D Classics Series. The first up will be 3D Streets of Rage 2, followed by 3D Gunstar Heroes in August and 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in September. Two more from the original batch are still to come, with 3D Fantasy Zone II launching tomorrow and 3D Thunder Blade next month. As with the first series, each game runs $5.99 and features remastered graphics with support for 3D, new modes, and new features.

Four-player brawler Paperbound now available for PC, PS4

Dissident Logic’s chaotic brawler Paperbound has been released for PC and PS4. Described as a “smash-up brawler that combines platforming, twitchy combat, and gravity redirection in a competitive couch multiplayer setting,” up to four players compete in enclosed arenas with 360 degrees of freedom as one of 11 characters. While the main characters are from books, others are from a variety of other titles, with fighters from Guacamelee!, VVVVVV, and Monaco. AI bots fill in any slots not assigned to other players, each with their own personality and playstyle; the studio also states that the AI will adapt to the player’s skill level.

Dragon Quest Heroes coming stateside for PS4, dated for 2015

In a surprise announcement, Square Enix has revealed that they will be bringing over Dragon Quest Heroes later this year. The Dynasty Warriors-style brawler is releasing this week in Japan and was co-developed by Omega Force and Koei Tecmo, who were recently involved in the development and publishing, respectively, of Hyrule Warriors. The action role-playing game will feature similar gameplay, with players facing hordes of enemies as they gain experience and new gear.

Cross-Play coming to Atlus beat ’em up Dragon’s Crown

Atlus has announced that a new Cross-Play-enabling update for Dragon’s Crown will be launching in North America as well as Japan. Vanillaware’s beat ‘em up was released on both PS3 and PS Vita, but until now, gamers haven’t had a way to venture forth into the wilds with one another. That will all change soon, but just how soon is unknown as a release date for the patch wasn’t revealed. To celebrate the news, Atlus is knocking off $10 from either version for this week only.

Atlus has announced that Vanillaware’s upcoming beat ‘em up Dragon’s Crown will come with free launch DLC. The pack will replace the original narrator with one of the six characters—Amazon, Dwarf, Elf, Fighter, Sorceress, or Wizard—depending on the player’s preference. The pack is free only for the first month, after which it will cost $1.99 to download.

Dragon’s Crown final box, art book covers revealed

Atlus has revealed the official box art for Vanillaware’s upcoming four-player hack-and-slash brawler, Dragon’s Crown. To sweeten the pot, Atlus also released the cover to the pre-order 64-page art book. Despite the PS3 and PS Vita versions sharing the same cover, it was noted that the game will not support cross-buy.
