Sony reveals cloud-based streaming, rental service PS Now

PS Now (PS3, PS4, PS Vita) Announcement - Header

Sony has announced PlayStation Now, the Gaiki-powered streaming service that will use cloud technology to allow players access to PS3 games on their PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and Bravia TVs. The service is scheduled to go live first for PS4 this summer and later for the rest of the Sony family, including eight models of the 2014 Bravia TV line (KDL-R400B is the exception). Sony plans to eventually expand the service further to include non-Sony products, allowing gamers to “enjoy instant access to a game wherever there’s Wi-Fi connectivity” along with seamless transition between devices. The service will feature the ability to rent specific titles or subscribe for access to the library. There will be online multiplayer and trophy support. For those curious about the system’s integration with the current setup, the PS Blog responded to a community question that the PS Store will continue to offer downloadable titles in addition to PS Now’s streaming services.
