Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment now on PSN for PS Vita

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, the MMORPG-styled adaptation of the manga and anime series of the same name, has launched on PSN for PS Vita. Players can start on Floor 76 of Aincrad and fight to free themselves in Hollow Fragment or from the beginning with an HD version of the game’s predecessor, Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment. Players can also team up with up to three other adventurers via ad-hoc multiplayer. A free downloadable costume pack launched today as well and will be available through November 18. Buyers can also look forward to a downloadable content pack slated to hit PSN next month.

Dimensions collide once more, Tales of Xillia 2 now available for PS3

Role-playing fans are getting the chance to continue last year’s excellent Tales of Xillia storyline today with Tales of Xillia 2. The sequel is set a few years after the events of the original and follows the adventures of cooking enthusiast Ludger Kresnik and his new friend Elle Marta. The element of choice is being expanded this time around, with characters, including party members, reacting differently depending on how Ludger handles various conversations and interactions, which will open new progression paths. Players can also quickly choose which of three weapons they wish to use during combat by initiating a Weapon Swap as well as call in allies using the new Cross Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System. Also, fans who have save files from Tales of Graces f or the first Xillia will receive bonus items, while owners of costume DLC for Xillia will be able to access the gear in Xillia 2.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment to get content update, free DLC

Bandai Namco has announced a free DLC Costume Pack for their upcoming MMO-styled role-playing game Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment. The promotion is slated to run from launch until November 18 and will net gamers a dress shirt, nightie, school swimsuit, and wedding dress. These items will not be available in any other pack after the promotion ends. An extensive content update was also detailed, which will go live on September 23 and introduce a host of (free) changes, including a higher level cap, from 200 to 250, new bosses, new weapons and armor, new quests, and 50 new Hollow missions. Lastly, fans of the anime and manga can look forward to meeting Alberich and Heathcliff.

Sign-up begins for Rise of Incarnates closed beta

Upcoming PC free-to-play fighter Rise of Incarnates is scheduled to enter closed beta on August 8. Gamers interested in signing up to access the beta, which will run until 11:50 p.m. (PDT) on August 17, can go here. At launch, the closed beta will include characters Ares, Grim Reaper, Lilith, and Mephistopheles, with Brynhildr set to be added on August 13, as well as two battlegrounds, New York City and Paris. A few purchasable items will be made available for testing out the character-customization system.

New extended version of Tekken 7 trailer revealed at Comic-Con

Bandai Namco has released an extended version of the Tekken 7 teaser that was debuted during this year’s Evo. The new cut was shown at the studio’s Fighting Game panel during Comic-Con and runs a little over a minute and a half longer than the original.

The first download pack for Dark Souls II, Crown of the Sunken King, has launched today. The release marks the debut of The Lost Crowns trilogy, a download-only expansion set that adds new enemies, locations, and bosses. Crown of the Sunken King is set in an underground cavern filled with stepped pyramids, within which will be found the first of several prized crowns that were previously owned by King Vendrick.

Bandai Namco reveals Tekken 7 at Evo 2014

Bandai Namco decided to add even more energy (some might say “hype”) to Evo 2014 by announcing Tekken 7. Details were scarce, save for that Unreal Engine 4 is being used to power the brawler. According to series executive producer and game director Katsuhiro Harada, the team went with UE4 to “focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without worrying about spending time creating a stand-alone graphic engine.” A teaser was released, however, offering a few hints at what’s in store.

Ace Combat Infinity, Soulcalibur Lost Swords pass 1-million mark

Ace Combat Infinity, the series’ first free-to-play entry, passed the one-million-download mark during May, according to Bandai Namco. To celebrate, Project Aces will gift every player who checks their notification about the commemoration before August 18 a free special aircraft, the Mirage 2000-5 -White Tiger-. The studio’s other free-to-play title, Soulcalibur Lost Swords, also surpassed one million downloads. A One Million Download Campaign was kicked off in honor of the milestone, and from July 9 to 23, players will be able to battle through a new campaign as well as take on special quests to unlock Ivy, Astaroth, and gift items.

Bandai Namco has released Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn on PSN for PS3. The Tecmo Koei-developed entry includes over 150 scenarios, 37 areas, and 100-plus playable Mobile Suits drawn from across the franchise, including Unicorn and Seed. Units can now form up with other suits for special attacks via the Burst System, all the better for taking down thousands (and thousands) of grunts. Local and online co-op play is also supported.
