Persona 5 to be released February 14, special editions detailed

Persona fans can finally rest easy, Atlus has announced the release date for Persona 5. The game will launch on February 14 as two special version: a first-run SteelBook Launch Edition and as the “Take Your Heart” Premium Edition. The $89.99 premium version will come packed with goodies: a 4-inch plushie of Phantom Thieves member and unofficial mascot Morgana, Japanese-style school bag modeled after those worn by students at Shujin Academy, soundtrack CD, 64-page hardcover art book with work from character designer Shigenori Soejima (who will also be at their E3 booth), the launch edition’s SteelBook case, and a massive collector’s box. Deadly Tower of Monsters developer Ace Team is returning to world of rolling boulders for the good of mankind with Rock of Ages II: Bigger and Boulder. The epoch-spanning tower-defense-styled title will continue in its predecessor’s footsteps by having players crush whatever is in their path. After Atlas misplaces an item necessary to keep the world running smoothly, rulers throughout history have decided to run amok. Various periods of art history are being used to represent the struggle, from Surrealism to Late Gothic, as players attempt to defend their resource nodes and destroy enemy castles. New to the series is a four-player competitive co-op mode where two teams of two try to gather resources and build defenses while destroying their rivals.

Atlus has released a new story trailer for Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, and revealed that the game will have retailer-exclusive downloadable content. The video brings players up to speed on the protagonist’s death, resurrection, and subsequent allegiance to his newfound benefactor, Dagda, a god whose role in the ongoing war between Merkabah and Lucifer remains unclear. A few pictures also offer a look at the GameStop/EB Games red-and-black Power Suit, the Amazon packaging-themed Prime Suit, the Best Buy uniform-inspired Retail Hero jumpsuit.

King of Fighters XIV gets Burn to Fight edition, Team Fatal Fury trailer

Atlus will be releasing a premium version of The King of Fighters XIV, and they’ve brought along Team Fatal Fury for the announcement. The Burn to Fight edition will come with a 144-page art book, a 3-disc soundtrack set that includes over 60 songs, and a steelbook case, all bundled in a collector’s box. Some muscle was also brought in to show off the new edition, with Fatal Fury alumni Andy Bogard, Joe Higashi, and Terry Bogard bashing some faces in a new trailer.
