Both packs are available through the eShop, with the $4.99 The Hidden Secrets adding single-player content, with three new missions and new weapons, and the $9.99 The Battle Hardened focusing on multiplayer, offering new characters and maps. Ubisoft has just launched a new round of DLC for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Assassin’s Creed III, The Battle Hardened Pack. Gamers who’ve recently seen Ratonhnhaké:ton safely through the Revolutionary War will be able to continue improving their tumbling and gutting skills with three new multiplayer characters (Governor, Highlander, and Coyote Man) across three new multiplayer maps (Charlestown, Fort St-Mathieu, and Saint Pierre).

Assassin’s Creed III now available for PC online, in stores

Assassin’s Creed III has launched for PC on Uplay and Steam, and should be on store shelves shortly. The post-Ezio entry is available as a standard edition for $49.99 and as a Deluxe Edition for $79.99, which adds four single-player missions, the DLC Season Pass, the official soundtrack, and a digital version of George Washington’s notebook. This version has been optimized to support DirectX 11 and multiple control options, and it also includes high-resolution textures (or would that be higher-resolution textures?). Collections seem to be a hit this week, with the launch of Capcom’s Marvel vs. Capcom Origins and announcement of BioWare’s Mass Effect Trilogy being joined by word from Ubisoft about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Ezio Trilogy. The PS3 exclusive will launch on November 13 for $39.99 and include Assassin’s Creed II with DLC, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations. The single-disc set will follow shortly after everyone wraps up Assassin’s Creed III, set to launch on October 30.

The PlayStation 3 is slimming down for the winter. Sony has announced that a new slimmer PS3 will be available in either charcoal black or classic white in North America starting in September. There will be two models (a third with 12 GB of flash memory is a Europe-only release) released in new bundles: a 250GB model launching September 25 for $269 with a copy of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Game of the Year Edition and Dust 514 pre-installed with a $30 voucher for DLC, and a 500GB model launching October 30 for $299 with a copy of Assassin’s Creed III.

More reveals in anticipation of this year’s Gamecom, and this one is a new Assassin’s Creed III naval-tastic trailer from Ubisoft.
