Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag goes goooooooooooold for PC

The PC version of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag has gone gold, according to Ubisoft. Gamers will have the chance to buy it in one of three versions: Standard, Deluxe Edition (bonus locations, items, and adventure featuring Liberation’s Aveline), or Uplay Deluxe Edition (all of the Deluxe Edition’s content as well as the Pride of the West Indies pack). The standard and deluxe editions will be available in stores and online, while the Uplay release is online only as it is exclusive to Ubisoft’s digital outlet. It was also noted that Nvidia card users will also have access to special features, such as God Rays, percentage-closer soft shadows, and temporal anti-aliasing. Several GeForce cards (list) have been bundled with digital copies of both Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Black Flag.

Privateer turned pirate Edward Kenway is hitting the high seas today with the release of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. Set in the early years of the 18th century, Kenway must battle the Templars throughout the West Indies as he takes ports, commandeers ships, and encounters other famous pirates of the age, such as Blackbeard and Charles Vane. As with its predecessors, combat will once again be a mixture of stealth and brute force, both of the armed and unarmed variety. And when he’s not fighting, Kenway will be exploring the more than 50 navigable locations. Oh, and whaling. He’ll also definitely be doing some whaling.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD heading to consoles, PC this January

It looks as if Aveline will have a busy new year. Ubisoft has announced that the console and PC version of Assassin’s Creed Liberation will be released on January 14 for PS3 and on January 15 for 360 and PC. The download-only release will feature assassin Aveline’s original adventure, set prior to the American Revolution, which found her using machetes, whips, and poison darts to take down her prey throughout New Orleans and even Mayan ruins. This new version will feature upgraded visuals—a comparison below shows a scene from it next to the same from the PS Vita original—and be released at $19.99. A discount of $5 was also announced for owners of Black Flag’s Season Pass.

New Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag narrated gameplay video released

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag’s director Ashraf Ismail talks gamers through the life of a pirate in a new gameplay trailer. The footage features Edward Kenway, Royal Navy officer turned pirate, sailing the ocean in search of treasure to loot and enemy ships to capture. Kenway upgrades a captured ship, takes on new crew members, and takes controls of a fort after a successful raid.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Watch Dogs announced for Xbox One

Ubisoft has confirmed that both Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and Watch Dogs will be available for Xbox One. Those are only two of at least six titles that the studio plans to release during the system’s first year. Both ACIV and Watch Dogs are scheduled to launch for the Xbox One later this year.

The Tyranny of King Washington: The Betrayal, the second entry in Assassin’s Creed III’s three-part add-on, has launched for 360 and PC. PS3 owners will be able to download it tomorrow. Continuing from The Infamy, The Betrayal finds Ratonhnhaké:ton making his way to Boston to link up with a new ally. During his journey, he unlocks the power of the eagle, which enables short-distance flight.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag detailed, trailer and screens released

As mentioned last week, Ubisoft has released new details about the upcoming sequel to Assassin’s Creed 3, Black Flag. The next installment has been in development for around two years, with efforts headed by Ubisoft Montreal and six other Ubi studios in support, and will be available for 360, PC, PS3, PS4, and Wii U, as well as “other next generation consoles” (i.e. Xbox Square, or whatever it’ll be called). The game will be available for the current slate of systems—360, PS3, and Wii U—this fall, on October 29.
