And another pick-up for Aksys. Following the announcement that they will be publishing the visual novel Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters, the studio sent word that they will also be publishing the PS3 fighter Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late. Co-developed by French Bread and Arc System Works, Under Night will feature 16 characters, six game modes, including Arcade, Score Attack, and Survival, as well as online multiplayer. Fighting fans will have to wait a bit before they can get their hands on it, though, as it isn’t set for release until 2015.

Aksys to bring Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters to North America

Aksys took some time out of Anime Expo 2014 to reveal that they’ve secured the North American publishing rights to Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters. The visual novel follows a transfer student to Kurenai High School who joins two ghost hunters after they save him from an evil spirit he encounters while wandering the campus. The game is said to have “a strategic role-playing element” that will involve players outsmarting ghosts by clever use of special ghost-hunting items. A release date was not announced.

XBlaze Code: Embryo on PSN, ships to stores for PS3 and PS Vita

Aksys has shipped XBlaze Code: Embryo, a visual novel set in the BlazBlue universe, for the PS3 and PS Vita. Set 150 years before the events of BlazBlue, XBlaze follows high school student Touya Kagari as he battles wizards, psychos, and secret groups for control of the power behind creation. Players will guide Touya to one of several different endings by their choice of what information he collects. Curious gamers can try before they buy with a new demo, also on PSN.

Aksys, Arc add $30,000 to BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Evo 2014 pot

Developer Arc System Works and publisher Aksys Games have decided to up the ante for Evo 2014 with $30,000 for the BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma pot. The top U.S. player at the tournament will also be flown with a friend to Japan on Aksys’ dime so that both can compete in Arc Revolution Cup 2014 on August 30. Series creator Toshimichi Mori and Rachel Alucard’s voice actress Kana Ueda will also be on hand at Aksys’ booth to sign free posters, as will stations to practice Chrono Phantasma, try a playable demo of Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, and check out BlazBlue Battle Cards and Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!!!!!.

Inner Realm: Mind Zero, a new role-playing game from Aksys Games, has launched online for PS Vita. The dungeon-crawling adventure follows Kei and his group of friends after they find themselves in a weapon shop whose resident undertaker offers them loot for bizarre weapons. As the group continues through the Inner Realm in search of more items for trade, they discover it’s connected to their own reality, known as the Outer Realm. Players will use beings known as Minds to explore their new world, battling alongside them as the group makes their way deeper into the Inner Realm.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma ver. 1.1 update going live this week

The PS3 version of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma will be updated to version 1.1 at 12:00 a.m. (PST) this Wednesday, according to Aksys Games. The patch will focus on improving the challenge and training modes. The PS Vita version will be released as 1.1 when it launches on June 24.

Word from Aksys HQ today about a delay. In an email, the studio stated that they found that one of the components within the limited edition of their upcoming choose-your-own-adventure-style romance sim Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi was not up to their standards. In order to correct the problem, the release has been delayed until May 20. The standard edition and PSN release are still on track, and both will be available on May 6.

Aksys is set to jump back into the ring later this year. After recently releasing BlazBlue: Chrono Phantsma, the publisher has announced that they will be releasing Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!!!!!—yes, five exclamation points—this fall. The PS3, PS Vita Examu-developed brawler will feature 23 characters alongside 23 arcana partners, online multiplayer with six-player lobbies, 300-plus hidden story scenarios, and several supplemental modes (Time Attack, Replay, Trial, Gallery). And for the purists out there, the original Japanese audio track will be available with English subtitles.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantsma hitting store shelves, PSN on April 1

The BlazBlue brawlers return to the ring today with the release of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantsma. As Ragna the Bloodedge hunts down Yuuki Terumi, players will be able to battle using the new Overdrive mechanic, which charges characters the more health they lose, and seven new characters. The new roster additions are available on-disc and online, with four available from the outset, another unlockable, and the remaining two added via DLC (Kokonoe is up today and Yuuki Terumi on May 27). Network play is also said to be improved and enhanced with new mode upgrades.
