Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark to bridge game, film universes

As has become franchise tradition, Activision will be releasing a Transformers game tie-in alongside the latest film, Age of Extinction. The newest game, Rise of the Dark Spark, will include over 40 playable characters from both film and Cybertron universes as each side battles to attain the Dark Spark. Rise of the Dark Spark will be set after the films as well as High Moon Studios’ War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron with a campaign that jumps between worlds and factions but features similar gameplay and modes as before, including Escalation. New additions include a revamped leveling system with persistent character development and an upgradeable defense system.

Call of Duty: Ghosts’ first download pack, Onslaught, is now available for 360 and Xbox One. The drop includes four new small- to medium-sized maps, detailed below, the new Maverick Assault Rifle/Sniper Rifle combo weapon, and the first installment of a four-part series for Extinction mode, Nightfall. Nightfall sets up the first contact between humans and Cryptids, and features new characters, two new alien species, and a hulking three-story-tall boss.

Call of Duty: Ghosts tops charts, logs over 1 billion matches globally

Activision has released a number of new stats today suggesting that Call of Duty: Ghosts is finding a warm welcome in the latest console generation. According to the release, Microsoft has named Ghosts as the most-played Xbox One multiplayer title in the world, while Sony announced that it is the most-played PlayStation 4 game. Ghosts is also the top-selling Xbox One game in the UK, and in the US, it is the top-selling PS4 and Xbox One title at several retailers, including GameStop and Walmart. And for added measure, the release also added that over 1 billion multiplayer matches have been played to date and that Microsoft has named it the most-played multiplayer game for 360.

Destiny beta to launch first for PS3 and PS4

To help kick off the launch of the PS4, Activision and Bungie have announced that the Destiny beta will be available first on PS3 and PS4. To gain access to the beta, players will need to pre-order the game from a participating retailer and enter the given nine-digit code at the official site. A note for those who pre-ordered before October 1: those who qualify have been automatically entered and will receive their code in an email from the retailer.

Call of Duty: Ghosts passes $1 billion in sales to retail on day one

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 officially announced for nearly everything

Activision has officially announced the upcoming game tie-in for Marvel’s upcoming film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Revealed at this year’s Comic-Con, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is being developed by Beenox and will be available for 360, 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One. As with its predecessor, the game will be a third-person action-adventure title that allows players to venture around New York City as they stop muggers, bank robbers, and villains of the super sort. The events will be different from those in the film, and Peter Parker will be given a larger role as Spider-Man faces a new Hero or Menace system that alters the city depending on how much crime he stops.
