PC gamers to get access to Destiny 2 beta on August 29

As Bungie prepares Destiny for its PC debut on October 24, Activision has sent word that the studio will be holding a beta for players to be able to try it out early. Beginning on August 29, PC gamers can try out the opening story mission, Homecoming, plus some of the cooperative and competitive modes. Call of Duty: WWII trailer details upcoming Multiplayer Private Beta

Call of Duty fans eager to know more about its online action are getting their chance today with the release of a new video. The WWII Multiplayer Private Beta trailer highlights some of the options that will be available when the beta goes live on August 25 for PS4. Gamers can look forward to trying out some of the new maps as well as War Mode as part of all five Divisions, which replace the traditional Pick 10 Create-a-Class system. In addition to the introduction, Operation Breakout, three maps (Pointe Du Hoc, Ardennes, and Gibraltar) will be included along with several modes (Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint). Headquarters, Loot, Supply Drops, and eSports support will not be available during this period, however. Sledgehammer notes that the period will be critical to testing “core gameplay, our game systems, as well as a stress test of our online infrastructure at scale.” For more information, check out the studio’s latest blog post.

Destiny 2 multiplayer highlighted in Competitive Multiplayer Trailer

Activision is offering a better look at Destiny 2’s multiplayer. A new video highlights some of the new four-versus-four modes and maps, such as Control, Countdown, and Survival. That said, Bungie also noted that they are aiming at having modes that are accessible to both casual and competitive players. Check the trailer out below.

Destiny 2 story team, voice actors chat it up at Comic-Con panel

Bungie was on hand at this year’s Comic-Con to discuss Destiny 2. Specifically, members of the story team were on a panel to talk about the changes that resulted after the events of the original. Game director Luke Smith, actor Lance Reddick, and others spoke at the show. One topic touched on was the new villain Ghaul, whose motivations were described by narrative design lead Guillaume Colomb: “I imagine that Ghaul must be extremely angry about that. He must think there is some huge injustice in the world, or he thinks that the Traveler made a mistake. Or does humanity somehow hold sway over the Traveler? Ghaul sees this as a noble quest to free the Traveler.” A recap can be found at Activision’s blog.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy gets a free unreleased level, book

Vicarious Visions has remastered an unreleased level for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Naughty Dog designed the stage, Stormy Ascent, but did not include it in the original Crash Bandicoot. Vicarious Visions announced during the Crash Bandicoot Then and Now panel at Comic-Con that they have remastered the level, updating it for the trilogy, and released it for free through the PlayStation Store. The level will remain free for the next 30 days. Also revealed was a new hardcover book from Dark Horse Comics due in March 2018, The Crash Bandicoot Files: How Willy the Wombat Sparked Marsupial Mania. The 150-page work will feature original design documents, a forward from series creators, and insights into Crash’s look.

Call of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies detailed, screens and trailer released

Players are getting a new look at Call of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies by way of San Diego Comic-Con. A new video from Activision features Sledgehammer Games’ upcoming co-op adventure, with players trekking through a Bavarian village while on the hunt for art stolen during World War II. But there’s a secret within the town that will lead to an army of—you guessed it—Nazi zombies. The campaign will star the voices and likenesses of David Tennant, Elodie Yung, Katheryn Winnick, Udo Kier, and Ving Rhames.

Destiny 2 console open beta to kick off July 21, run through July 23

Console players will be able to play Destiny 2 in a few weeks during a three-day-long open beta. Scheduled to run from July 21 through July 23, the beta will feature the opening story mission, Homecoming, along with both co-op and versus modes. Pre-orders will be able to access the beta early, beginning July 18 for PS4 and July 19 for Xbox One.

Crash is back! Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy out for PS4

Activision has released Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Exclusive to PS4, the compilation features the first three titles: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. All of the games have been updated with improved audio, enhanced graphics, analog support, a unified save system, checkpoints, time trials, and leaderboard support. As an added bonus, each game can also be played through as Crash’s sister, Coco.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Absolution launching July 6 for PS4

Infinity Ward is prepping to release Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s third downloadable pack, Absolution. As with prior drops, the add-on will introduce four new maps for multiplayer along with a new zombies storyline. The maps, detailed below, will feature golf courses, a frozen city, a shantytown within a wrecked ship, and a remake of Resistance from Modern Warfare 3. The zombies addition, Attack of the Radioactive Thing!, is set in a 1950s-era beach town after a government experiment has gone awry. Paul Reubens returns as director Willard Wyler who has once again trapped four characters within a film, now based around the famed Creature Features. The Scientist (Seth Green), the Rebel (Ike Barinholtz), the Soldier (Jay Pharoah), and the School Girl (Sasheer Zamata) are joined by narrator and horror icon Elvira as they utilize new traps, weapons, and powers against the undead hordes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered getting standalone release

Call of Duty fans will soon be able to buy a copy of Modern Warfare Remastered without grabbing Infinite Warfare. Activision has announced that they will be separating the two, with PS4 owners getting the title first, beginning on June 27 for $39.99. The release will include the campaign, updated with improved lighting, animation and textures, as well as 16 multiplayer maps. To celebrate the launch, a new event will be kicking off on the same day, Days of Summer, which will feature in-game giveaways, experience boosts, new playlists, and a summer-themed map.
