Silent Hill: Book of Memories gets new characters, more in DLC pack
A new downloadable content pack has launched for Silent Hill: Book of Memories. The PS Vita exclusive’s first drop is a considerable one, with the $4.99 release including balance tweaks, 10 new playable characters, 50 new outfits, 15 new accessories, 14 new artifacts, 10 new weapons, 15 new story notes, two new enemies, and four new trophies.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut announced for Wii U
In the ‘pleasantly surprising news’ category, Square Enix has announced that they will be releasing a Director’s Cut of Eidos Montreal’s action role-playing game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. What should excite Wii U owners the most isn’t the GamePad support for touchscreen hacking and map editing, Miiverse integration, inclusion of the Missing Link DLC, developer commentary, or improved graphics, control, and AI. No, they should be excited about the overhauled boss fights. Not that the other stuff isn’t worth getting excited about, because they should make a great game even better, it’s just that the boss fights were absolutely terrible.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX compilation announced for PS3
Kingdom Hearts fans will be able to play a previously import-only entry as well as an updated version of Re:Chain of Memories this fall. The collection, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, will feature the North American debut of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, as well as Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and HD-ed cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Both titles will sport “enhanced gameplay mechanics.”

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen gameplay trailer released
A new gameplay trailer has been released for Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, the upcoming enhanced re-release. The minute-plus-long video shows some of the dangers that will greet players during their time in the newly added Bitterblack Isle, including Necrophagous, beasts that seek out decomposing flesh; a cave-dwelling Elder Ogre; a Cursed Dragon; and fog-spewing Garms.

Skylanders Giants event taking place Feb. 5 at flagship Toys “R” Us
Skylander fans will be able to snag the upcoming character Ninjini before its official launch, and a few discounted figures as well, on February 5 at an event at Toys “R” Us Times Square. The festivities are in honor of the annual International Toy Fair, and in celebration, the first to line up will receive a free Ninjini figure. Those who show up later will still be able to participate in giveaways and a day-long sale, which includes $25 off a Giants Starter Pack and a ‘buy 2, get 1 free’ for figures. Characters will be on hand to greet attendees, and playable demos will be setup at kiosks.

Free-to-play action-RPG Akaneiro: Demon Hunters launches for PC
Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, the latest action-RPG from Spicy Horse Games, has launched for PC. A mishmash of Japanese folklore and Little Red Riding Hood, Akaneiro sets players loose to hunt monsters using swords and spells over 20 maps set in Edo-era Japan. Linux and mobile users will get a chance to slay beasts as well if the game’s ongoing Kickstarter campaign is fully funded.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen detailed, release date announced
Capcom has released new details about the expansion to their action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. Scheduled to launch for 360 and PS3 on April 23 as a download and on disc, Dark Arisen will feature a new area, over 25 new enemies, a new skill tier, 100-plus new pieces of equipment with new enhancement tiers, 14 new augments, greater character customization, item appraisal, optional Japanese voice track, and all of the content from the original game. Given that the original is one of our favorites from last year, that, as well as the $39.99 price tag, is great news. Veterans can look forward to easier travel and a refined menu system, plus a handful of extras: 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones, and the six-costume Gransys Armour Pack.

New trailer, screens released for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
A new trailer and batch of screenshots have been released for Square Enix’s upcoming Lightning-tastic Final Fantasy spin-off, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. The Extended First Look trailer features the divine city of light Luxerion, one of the four regions of Nova Chrysalia, the area formerly known as Novus Partus, and a little of the fast-paced combat. New screens were also released, which reveal a brand-new character, Lumina.
