Story trailer released for stylish sci-fi action-platformer Headlander

Adult Swim Games has released a story trailer for Double Fine’s Headlander. The upcoming action-adventure title, inspired by 70’s era science fiction, finds mankind stuffed inside robotic bodies and controlled by a mad artificial intelligence. Virtual mankind, when will you heed the warnings of AM and Shodan? The hero of the day is the last living person. Well, the head of the last living person, who must use their special helmet to hover around and take control of the world’s numerous robots in order to defeat the tyrannical computer.

Daydreamer: Awakened Edition now available on PSN for PS4

Roland Studios’ side-scrolling shooter Daydreamer: Awakened Edition has launched for PS4. As mentioned last week, the Xbox One version has been cancelled. On the bright side, PS4 players can grab the game for 20% off on PSN as part of a week-long promo. As a daydreamer, players must battle through armies of strange aliens, mutants, and robots as they make their way to the Earth’s core. Don Ramiro to arrive on Xbox One next week in Maldita Castilla EX

Abylight and Locomalito’s side-scrolling action-platformer Maldita Castilla EX will be launching on July 20 for Xbox One. The retro-style adventure follows knight Don Ramiro on his quest to save the Kingdom of Castile from hordes of monsters. Originally published for PC in 2012, the console version features additional content with eight stages, 19 bosses, 48-plus enemy types, four endings, remixed audio, new music, and a new illustrated bestiary. As a bonus for those eager to answer the call, early buyers will receive a 10% discount.

Daydreamer: Awakened Edition now PS4-only, launching July 12

Atlus has sent word that Roland Studios’ Daydreamer: Awakened Edition will no longer be launching for Xbox One. No details were given regarding the cancellation. Additionally, the PS4 version of the surreal side-scrolling action title has been officially dated and will hit PSN on July 12. As a bonus, the game will be discounted 20% off as part of a launch-week promo.

Becks sets out for PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U and Xbox One in Mighty No. 9

After a long road, the Mega Man-inspired action-platformer Mighty No. 9 has been released for console and PC. Developed by comcept and designed by Keiji Inafune, Mighty No. 9 follows the adventures of the robot Beck, unit No. 9 of a 10-robot squad of combat units. After a computer virus infects the others as well as the world’s machines, Beck, alongside his friend Call, must fight the now-violent bots as they track down the source.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst demo on EA/Origin Access for PC, Xbox One

Players who’ve been anticipating Faith’s return are getting a chance to try Mirror’s Edge Catalyst today. A demo has been released for members of EA Access and Origin Access for PC and Xbox One. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Play First Trial is playable for up to six hours and includes 10 missions set within two districts of Glass city. The asynchronous multiplayer mode Social Play is also included, allowing players to challenge friends to their Time Trials and hide Beat L.E. within Glass for them to find. Progress will carry over to the full version.

Dash like a madman in new Mighty No. 9 gameplay trailer

Deep Silver has release a new gameplay trailer for Mighty No. 9. The upcoming action-platormer from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune and developer comcept is something of a spiritual successor to the Blue Bomber and features similar combat and platforming. The video highlights a bit of this, focusing on Beck’s dash ability. The multi-purpose move can be used to reach dangerous areas, collect power-ups, and defeat weakened enemies. It’s also key in maximizing the combo multiplier, as several can be chained together to continually absorb scattered power-ups.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition getting physical release

The Steam version of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is getting a physical release, courtesy of Nordic Games. Players will have two choices, the $19.99 Standard version and the $29.99 Limited Edition. The Standard release will come bundled with a quickstart guide, A3 poster, and game DVD, all in special packaging. The Limited Edition includes all of those items plus two postcards, soundtrack CD, two double-sided A3 posters, and steelbox packaging. A physical version will also be released for Xbox One. The Definitive Edition is a re-release that adds new areas, abilities, story sequences, and fast travel.
