Mega Man Legacy Collection to hit 3DS, PC, PS4, Xbox One this year

The blue bomber will be returning in a new six-title compilation this fall in Mega Man Legacy Collection. Scheduled to launch initially for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and later for 3DS, the set will include the first six Mega Man games, plus a Museum of concept and character art and a new Challenge Mode. The latter will consist of a set of increasingly difficult trials that utilize portions from all six games, such as going through an area from each game on a single life, which is said to provide a challenge for veterans and serve as a learning tool for new players. The mode will also upload replays of the best runs for everyone to check out. Digital Eclipse is handling the project.

Mighty No. 9 Collector’s Edition detailed, new trailer, screens released

Deep Silver has announced that they are expanding their Mighty No. 9 offerings with a Collector’s Edition. The $59.99 set will come with a Launch Edition of the game, special packaging with a foil signature from Keji Inafune, and an individually numbered statue of Beck that stands 6.5 inches tall and sports 14 points of articulation along with three interchangeable faceplates. Both the Limited and Collector’s editions will come with Retro Hero DLC, which will revert the graphics to an older style and add a one-hit difficulty mode. It was also announced that the game will also support cross-buy across all physical and digital versions of PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. And to top off the reveals, a new 60fps trailer, Beat Them at Their Own Game, has also been posted.

Microsoft has rolled out a new trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider. Crystal Dynamics is returning to the world of tombs and the raiding thereof as Lara Croft sets off on a global treasure hunt. The video runs a minute and forty-five seconds and finds Lara following in the steps of famed arctic explorers in search of the past. For those wanting to see more, you won’t have to wait long, as the teaser ends that more will be revealed in a few weeks at this year’s E3.

Ace Team’s action platformer Abyss Odyssey will be getting a release for PS4. Abyss Odyssey: Extended Dream Edition will contain tweaks and updates to the original game, which follows Katrien, Ghost Monk, and Pincoya on a quest to defeat a powerful warlock at the bottom of a sprawling abyss. In addition to the updates for the PC version, Extended Dream Edition will feature online two-player co-op, local four-player versus, and a mini-boss battle with Zeno Clash’s Goldem. There are also several system-exclusive mini-bosses, Tirana and White Phantom, as well as a unique final boss form, Warlock Titan.

Deep Silver to publish physical, digital versions of Mighty No. 9

Comcept is teaming up with Deep Silver to bring the side-scrolling, Keiji Inafune-helmed action platformer Mighty No. to stores and online on September 15. Physical versions will be available for PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One, while Linux, Mac, Windows PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 will be digital only. Digital versions for 3DS and PS Vita will launch at a later date. Deep Silver is also providing several localized versions with subtitles, in addition to English, French, and Japanese voice-over support. Sega expands 3D Classics Series 2 with Gunstar Heroes, more

Starting this July, Sega will be adding three more titles to their 3D Classics Series. The first up will be 3D Streets of Rage 2, followed by 3D Gunstar Heroes in August and 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in September. Two more from the original batch are still to come, with 3D Fantasy Zone II launching tomorrow and 3D Thunder Blade next month. As with the first series, each game runs $5.99 and features remastered graphics with support for 3D, new modes, and new features.

La-Mulana EX has gone live on PSN for PS Vita. The side-scrolling action platformer from Pygmy Studio once again calls the intrepid adventurer Professor Lemeza Kosugiembark to the dangerous ruins of La-Mulana. Players must help the whip-wielding explorer as he searches for lost treasure, battles monsters, and explores uncharted territory. The PS Vita version features a new bestiary and the option to undo the Hard Mode curse.

Spring Fever PlayStation Store Event offers discounts, new games

Sony has announced their plans for this year’s Spring Fever PlayStation Store event. The eight-week-long promo will feature additional discounts for PS Plus members and general discounts for everyone. While some of the bigger franchises will be included in the sale, such as Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, and God of War, the new titles, set to launch one per week, are especially interesting. Some of the highlights are the PS4 version of Jamestown+, with four-player support, and several cross-buy titles, including Helldivers, Metal Slug 3, and Shovel Knight. Square Enix Collective offering Anachronox, Fear Effect, and Gex IPs

Square Enix is offering three Eidos IPs for independent developers to try their hand at through the studio’s Collective platform. Anachronox, Fear Effect, and Gex are all on offer for developers to submit game ideas, and new project pitch submissions have also been reopened. A previous submission, Goetia, a point-and-click adventure from French developer Sushee, recently passed its Kickstarter goal with 48 hours to go. According to the release, it was the latest campaign’s success that inspired them to open up the Eidos IPs.
